ECHDC survey-What do YOU want to see on the waterfront

Topics: , , ,

Our apologies here at the Canal Side Community Alliance for not blogging more often. The bulk of our efforts have been dedicated to consistent education to Alliance members and elected officials, and negotiating the actual Community Benefits Agreement.

Several negotiations sessions have come and gone, and with the passing time, we have come closer and closer to consensus. It is our hope that in the next few weeks our conversations with the ECHDC will yield an agreement that will re-shape how the project evolves. The second this happens, we will inform our Alliance members and celebrate this tremendous victory with everyone that made this possible.

In the interim, please take some time to fill out this survey the ECHDC just released to gather more information from the community that will help inform how to make the waterfront a community based destination. I just personally filled it out, and there is room to suggest good jobs, sustainable development, and green infrastructure. And the Canal Side Community Alliance has 61 organizations that could in some way or another assist in the development of new programming, identify community needs, and help create a space that draws in locals as well as tourists.

And of course, if you haven’t been down to the evolving waterfront, it’s worth a visit. For what it’s worth, it has transformed and feels new and fresh.

As soon as we have more details regarding the CBA or future plans for the ECHDC, we will let you know.

In the mean time, if you have any questions or concerns, please call Micaela at 892.5877.
