This live, three-part series is presented by Feed Your Soul Productions and bears some resemblance to the popular Food Network show "Chopped," but features a slightly different format appropriate for a live audience. Nickel City Firing Line is held at Artisan Kitchens & Baths, the home of Nickel City Chef. This fully restored turn-of-the-century stove factory is located on the Buffalo's west side. Outfitted with three competition-worthy kitchens, Artisan is the ideal location for guests to experience this exciting live cooking competition first hand. In each preliminary match, three professional culinary contenders vie for the win and the opportunity to compete in the finale, with the chance to win the title of 2012 Nickel City Firing Line Champion. The winner from Match One was Chef Teddy Bryant of Lloyd Taco Trucks. The winner from Match Two was DJ Cook of Sample restaurant. Both chefs competed on December 2 in the Firing Line finale. In the first heat, competitors had 45 minutes to develop, cook, and plate an entree using ingredients found in the mystery basket. In the Finale, the mystery basket included 4 Grass-fed Red Devon Delmonico steaks from Green Heron Growers, 2 rutabagas and 1/2 a pound of cipolinni onions from Oles Farm/Promised Land CSA, and one bottle of Meritage from Leonard Oakes Estate Winery.
