Erie County Legislature Democratic Leader Betty Jean Grant (D-Buffalo) is deeply involved in her community and knows how to have fun, and thanks to “Operation Primetime”, children across Buffalo and all of Erie County can take part in a summer full of recreational and educational activities in a safe and supervised environment.

“Operation Primetime” provides for an adult supervised environment for the ten-week school summer recess period.  Program activities consist of structured recreational activities that prevent delinquency, increase socialization and foster respect for authority.  Total funding for “Operation Primetime” is $411,084 and 44 local not-for-profit agencies have received grants ranging from $1,788 – $10,000.  Programs are designed for youth ages 6- 18 and include: academic enrichment; cultural enrichment; career enrichment; youth leadership; community service; gang and violence prevention and of course FUN.

Legislator Betty Jean Grant said, “These programs funded by Operation Primetime provide youths who want to stay on the right track with the purpose and structure, as well as the proper supervision.  I am glad that County Executive Poloncarz and the County Legislature worked together to provide this vital funding.”
