La Terra Promessa DVD Update

We’ve been getting a ton of calls , emails and comments about where and how people can obtain copies of our latest Documentary “La Terra Promessa”.

First and foremost, WNYmedia has nothing to do with the selling of these DVD’s. All orders need to go through the Federations Website at FIASWNY.com That’s the deal.

The first run of DVD’s was completely sold out!! Apparently there was some problems with the first few hundred paypal orders that has finally been rectified. Sorry about that.

A 2nd run of DVD’s is due by December 14th, which at that point, those people whose orders were not filled will be filled immediately. I know the federation is extremely troubled by the situation and is trying everything they can to rectify the situation.

Cut them some slack. They are not normally in the business of movie distribution. But they assure me those orders will be filled immediately once the new shipment arrives.

On a personal level, Thank YOU for your continued compliments and support of this project. Its been so well received, and to be honest, not only was i not expecting it, but Im taken back by all the enjoyment it is bringing to people here in the WNY community and elsewhere throughout the country.

Ciao…!!

Salerno Jingles Cookies

In a cruel twist, Keebler has mucked with what is one of my favorite holiday traditions…the eating by the dozens of Jingles cookies by Salerno.

Keebler bought out the regional cookie maker a few years back and absorbed all of their excellent recipes, including the beloved anise flavored Jingle. After a few years, they sold off Salerno and kept only one brand…Jingles. Oddly enough, they did not actually keep the traditional recipe, just the brand name. It would appear that Keebler was more interested in the brand than the actual product.

Apple: Your House Burned Down, have an iPod

  • More than 100 high school students in the Poway school district who lost homes in the October wildfires have received a surprise gift – iPods donated by Apple. Kari Afshari, 15, a sophomore at Rancho Bernardo High, said she was told last week to drop by a classroom for pizza and was surprised when she and fellow students were handed nano video iPods.

The kids were gifted the iPods after a member of the community sent an email to Steve Jobs asking for help. Jobs never responded, his email address is handled by super intelligent squirrels, but it ended up with Michael Foulkes, the state and local affairs manager for Apple. Shortly after, the Nanos were delivered.

Apple mentioned they didn’t want any publicity for the act…

Welcome To WNYMedia.net, Version 2.1

A few months back, we went to a new uniform design that we had hoped would streamline delivery of our content and provide for a better overall user experience. Well, that didn’t work out so well. The uniform repudiation of the new design was heard loud and clear and we have been busy (in our after work hours) to bring the sexy back.

We asked our good friend Nathan Strang to design us a whole new template for the frontpage and for use by the bloggers. We decided to roll out this new template to a few of our bloggers at first so we can gauge reaction and make tweaks as necessary. The individual WNYMedia.net bloggers will be able to again choose from a set of templates to best suit their individual personalities/organizations.

So, no more black template, no more uniform look across all sites, no more untweakable sidebars, no more limited SEO, and on with what we hope will be a building block for bigger and better things.

If you like it, let us know. If you don’t, well, tell us that too. If you want to host a blog here or move your existing blog over to WNYMedia, we’re always looking for fresh contributors.

SRSLY DUMPED

Meet Sandra. She lives in NYC, born in Mechanicville, and just broke up with her boyfriend,Will. She decided to tell Will via facebook. This serves a two-fold purpose:

  • No need to actually tell Will, he uses facebook too. Sandra’s status gets instantly displayed on the mini-feed of Will’s page and all of Sandra’s contacts all at once. Cheaper than a text message.
  • Relevant banner ads help increase the pathetic irony of what she just did, and can help to sooth Will so Sandra can go on to pursue Pete Marinucci.
