31 Tonawanda St: Withdrawn
Today Buffalo Common Council member Joe Golombek and the Rev. Terry King announced that Saving Grace Ministires has withdrawn their proposal for a level 3 sexual offenders house at 31 Tonawanda Street.
“This is not a problem that will be going away. We will continue to seek a site that is appropriate.” said Rev. King.
Rev. King on withdrawing the proposal:
In the City of Buffalo, there are over 600 registered sex offenders with more than 200 level III offenders.
The state of New York is releasing sex offenders into our community almost daily. Some may not even be from our community and are only here to receive treatment that is unavailable in other parts of the state.
Golombek announced that a commission will be formed to study this growing problem to try and see if these offenders are even from the community in which they are being dumped.
Golombek on Commission:
“we want to take a look a how many offenders we are talking about.”

Mission: 200 Hams By the 18th for the City Mission

As the Buffalo City Mission, 100 E. Tupper Street, prepares for its Community Christmas Dinner, to be held Tuesday, December 18, Kitchen supervisors are sounding an alarm.
“I just learned we need 200 hams and we only have two!” said Aubrey Calhoun, community relations director. Calhoun said the Mission will need all the food necessary for the feast no later than December 15.
“We expect to welcome hundreds of homeless for dinner,” she said. “Many of these people have no family and some have burned every bridge due to addiction and other circumstances. We want to share with them our caring hearts and show them there is hope. Often that starts with something as simple as a holiday meal and a hug…
Controversy In Blogistan
![]()
So, it’s a blustery Monday morning here in Buffalo. I’m well-caffeinated and ready for my day. I open up my email and my inbox is inundated by a Buffalo Issue Alerts thread entitled “Comment tampering at BRO City Channel”.
Cynthia Van Ness was alerted to the comments left at BRO by one “Frankster”, who suspected deletion and malicious tampering with his/her comments, particularly in response to posts by Bill Zimmerman (who, you’ll recall, recently embarrassed himself and BRO with a poorly executed interview with Rob Reinas from the Public Bridge Authority (the Peace Bridge)).
So, Frankster did a little experiment and took screen shots and saved text files of the deleted and altered comments. You can see the post & comments being scrutinized here. Incidentally, that post is little more than Zimmerman publicly fellating City Hall employee and former Common Councilman Al Coppola.
My policy is to let any non-spam, non-libelous, non-racist comment through. I’ll also occasionally delete posts that were mistakenly posted more than once, and if they’re mildly different, I opt to keep the more recent version. When I can, I delete the offensive text and, in brackets, note that I deleted it and either state why, or invite the commenter to email me so I can explain it.
Smart suburban growth

Wal Mart gets a deservedly bad rap for a lot of things they do but it looks like they’ll be taking part in a development that is great for an inner-ring Amherst that is starting to look like downtown Buffalo’s retail scene.
The huge complex on Sheridan and Bailey that used to house DSW and Hills amongst some other stores when I was a kid has been emptied out and has become quite the eyesore.
The Central Terminal on Video

The Central Terminal has enjoyed some past fame in the movies and on television. The C.T.R.C. is pleased to be able to offer you some clips of the terminal from the past.
