David Bowie Cancels Tour Plans, Permanently

David Bowie’s agent says the musician has ‘performed his last live show’ If you wanted to see Bowie live, it looks like you’ll never again have the chance as his agent announced that the musician has “decided to retire” John Giddings, who spoke at the International Festival Forum in London last weekend, has confirmed that Bowie’s performance at the 2004 Isle Of Wight Festival was the last time anyone in the UK would see him perform live.   According to Music Week, the booking agent said: “David [Bowie] is one of the best artists I’ve ever worked with. But every time I see him now, before I even speak to him, he goes, I’m not touring and I say, I’m not asking.” “He has decided to retire and, like Phil Collins, you can’t demand these people go out there again and again and again. I’m really pleased and proud that the last show he ever did in the UK was the 2004 Isle Of Wight Festival.” This means that the last time he performed live was in November 2006 at a charity gig – he did a three-song set at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom as part of the Keep a [...]

METALLICA Is ‘Recording Right Now,’ Says JAMES HETFIELD

METALLICA Is ‘Recording Right Now,’ Says JAMES HETFIELD   METALLICA frontman James Hetfield has revealed in a new interview that the band is currently in the studio recording what is presumably the band’s long-awaited follow-up to 2008’s “Death Magnetic” album. Speaking to EMGtv about his inspiration for the EMG Het Set and his three signature ESP guitars — Truckster, Snakebite, and Iron Cross — Hetfield said (see video below): “I tell ya, we’re recording right now, and there’s the number one guitar, there’s the number two guitar, there’s the number three. And here’s the third-track guitars that just sound different. They all sound different.” METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich recently told that the band has written close to 20 new songs for its long-awaited tenth studio album, although he declined to offer a possible release date for the new CD. Ulrich said: “In our world, there’s been a distinct difference between the creative phase and the recording phase. With this project, we’re trying to bridge the two a little more organically and not have there be such a great divide between the processes. We want to see if we can bring some of the creative curiosity, the impulsive stuff that [...]

Here it is in all its glory, a moment we are proud of, from our upcoming Blu-ray, DVD and LP Full Circle – Live at Center Stage.”   The Live DVD/CD will be released on October 16, 2015 as a 2CD/DVD digipak version, Blu-ray/2CD version, 2LP Gatefold version and download through Steamhammer /SPV.  It can be ordered on Amazon HERE. _____________________________________________________   An [...]

GLENN DANZIG: ‘I’ve Been Wanting To Do A Covers Record Since 1979’

GLENN DANZIG: ‘I’ve Been Wanting To Do A Covers Record Since 1979’ Glenn Danzig recently spoke to Weld For Birmingham about his upcoming covers record, “Skeletons”, which will be released in November via Evilive Music. The CD, which was recorded with PRONG guitarist/vocalist Tommy Victor and former TYPE O NEGATIVE drummer Johnny Kelly, will include the former MISFITS frontman’s take on songs by BLACK SABBATH (“N.I.B.”), ZZ TOP (“Rough Boy”), THE TROGGS (“A Girl Like You”), THE EVERLY BROTHERS (“Crying In The Rain”) and others. There is also a heavy cover of a track called “Devil’s Angel”, the theme song to a biker movie of the same name from the late ’60s. “I’ve been wanting to do a covers record since 1979,” Danzig said. “And actually, the arrangement for ‘Devil’s Angels’ that we did, which was one of the biker songs, is the arrangement that I wrote back in 1979 for it. So it’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. You get busy, you start doing other things. It was always in the back of my head and finally, I’m doing it. I just started recording.” Danzig also talked about other artists covering his songs, [...]
