One Of Those Moments

Today is a big day for me.

I’m about to give a presentation and I’m hoping to close one of the largest and most important deals of my professional career.

The strategy? Present big ideas and share my passion for what my company does.

It colors my view on everything; without a core belief that what you’re doing is right and a passion for your product, how do you expect to sell or lead?

It makes me wonder about our local community leaders. They lack passion and big ideas. It’s what needs to change in Buffalo…we deserve better and should demand it.

Anyhow, I’d ask for you to wish me luck but, luck is for losers.

  1. I’ll simply say congratulations.

Whether you land the deal or not, you have the courage to present your passion and those big ideas in the hopes of improving your life.

Buffalo Geek = he has the tools to be a community leader but the smarts to avoid the wacky world of Western New York politics.

You don’t need luck. You have the passion, and that will appeal to your audience. As for our politicians, They play it safe. The political equivalent of the prevent defense and the neutral zone trap.

RandomThoughts made a good point. Guys like Craig, Figmo, Pundit and Geek would be awesome leaders if they ran for office. They seem to have the right mix of ideas and attitude to get shit done. We need fresh candidates with fresh ideas. It seems as if the Buffalo blogs are providing some possibilities as of late. The question is, would their attitude sell to everyone in the city or would they simply get trumped by the political machine as uneducated rookeis?

You start with grass roots organizing and it should snowball from there. Look at Satish. A complete rookie trumping out in what is one of the most politically entrenched towns in WNY.

Well, grassroots is indeed the way to go as I doubt the outspoken nature of these guys would jibe with the agendas of the local parties. Look what happened to the guy who ran PrimaryChllange. They dug up all kinds of dirt on that guy and tried to discredit him. They tried to do the same to the PC candidates. I’m sure they’d do the same to any of these guys if they decided to run for office.

Rus was involved with PrimaryChallenge but Len Roberto was the guy they targeted. The scandal machine brought up some problems he had with back taxes.
