And, no, this isn’t about Stuart Scott, although he has certainly ruined many parts of my life. Not to get too sidetracked, but one of the Dad’s on my Son’s baseball team is a goofy white accountant with typical accountant personality, and he often asks the six and seven-year-olds to “Give him a booyah!” Hopefully, one of the children will strike him in the testicles soon.
No, the real reason ESPN is failing us is because they have moved so much of their coverage to “Insider” that we are no longer able to even read major news stories.
As you are probably aware, Diamondback’s relief pitcher Jason Grimsley got busted with human growth hormone, and apparently he has gone all Ned Isakoff and named names, and this kind of stuff isn’t just going to get you blacklisted at Hop Sing’s. It’s going to get a lot of major league players in deep trouble, like name dragged through the mud in trouble.
Problem is, you can’t really read about the implications on ESPN, because Buster Olney wrote the piece, and Buster Olney is available to “Insiders” only.
So instead, you will have to go to the Arizona Republic for the latest. At least until the story hits the big time…then you won’t be able to get away from it.
