The Buffalo Sabres and Henrik Tallinder have agreed to a “long-term” contract that will keep Tallinder out of free agency for at least one year.
Tallinder, who many consider to be the Sabres best defenseman (he certainly was in the playoffs), joins Brian Campbell and Jaroslav Spacek as Sabres blueliners who currently are inked beyoind next year.
The reason long-term was surrounded by quotes in the first paragraph is because the Sabres announced Campbell signed a “long-term” deal as well, which turned out to be a two-year contract.
Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed, but will likely come out over the weekend.
In other news, the Briere arbitration ruling should be released by noontime tomorrow.
Really Fast Update: According to an e-mailer, Regier stated earlier today that Tallinder’s deal is for four years. If that’s true, I’m going to have to write another “The Sky Is Unfalling!” post.
