In a stunning move to me, “sources” have informed TSN that Max Afinogenov and the Sabres have agreed to a three-year, $10 million deal.
Wow.
The pessimist in me assumes a trade is looming. For Max, or Dumont, or Briere, or some other surprising salary (Kalinin). But the optimist in me really can’t believe what is happening here.
The optimist in me says the Sabres have kept practically their entire team together. Spacek for McKee is a wash, or even an upgrade in the Sabres system. Grier? Screw him. Yeah, you’re right you jerk-off, the Sabres can’t hold this together. He’s gone, and we have plenty of players (Paille) who can fill the role of a slow-skating, stone-hands forward who plays very smart hockey.
I still think the Sabres have to deal one fairly large salary, but it won’t be one that hurts the team too much. Thank you Tom Golisano!
And Bucky Gleason can eat a bag of dicks.
PS: Thanks for the comments and e-mails about this, I just checked my e-mail and our readers are awesome. We had our block party tonight and I had no plans to do any blogging at all.
