Hey, folks. I’ll be on the road all day today, starting with a drive to Rochester at oh-dark-thirty.
So if some of you nice commenters could keep everyone in the loop in terms of call-ups, injuries, and the like, that would be awesome.
Boston has been slogging along lately and while they are 4-1-1 at home, they have been pretty average on the road – although they are playing better than the Sabres. And while they may have just been swept by Ottawa in a home-and-home, they lost one game 3-2 and another in a shootout. Goalie Tim Thomas is playing out of his skull, posting a 1.65 goals against and a sick .949 save percentage. I don’t care if you have a team of monkeys playing forward, with goalie numbers like that you’re going to win a lot of games.
7:00 start on MSG tonight. I should be home for the open thread, at least.

Indeed. Our goalie needs to start playing better for his monkeys.
MacArthur is making the ride down 90 tonight. I hope he can provide some kind of spark…

Welcome to Rocha!
Maybe a few AHLers desperate to prove a point will inject some zing into the lineup. Some guys seem to be going through the motions (*cough* Roy! *cough*), even in the last Habs game.
So, this means Peters dresses I assume, so we play 3 lines tonight while Peters, Ryan, and McArthur sit and watch. Hopefully Ruff will bench whoever is shirking in favor of McArthur, or at least threaten to do so.
Can anyone explain when exactly an NHL’er becomes a rookie?
Was MacArthur a rookie last year or this year? Or will he not be one until next year?
I’m confused because a guy can play in the NHL on call-up and it doesn’t count as a rookie year.
I think….think…its 22 games for a skater and 10 for a goalis before you lose the ‘rookie’ designation
To be considered a rookie, a player must not have played in 25 or more NHL games in any preceding seasons, nor in six or more NHL games in each of any two preceding seasons. Any player at least 26 years of age (by September 15th of that season) is not considered a rookie.
Well, that’s not complicated at all.
Sooo, MacArthur was a rookie last year, but is not this year.
I assume MacArthur is still considered a rookie this year as he only played 19 games last year. Had he played 25 games last year, he would not be considered a rookie this year.
Right right, I got that mixed up with the “six games” part, but those six games are from the year preceding the previous year.
Crazy.
@JDInVegas
One of the many reasons Upper Deck said “screw it” and is waiting to release some of ther rookie cards…
I had heard that Dylan Hunter might be called up, wonder what happened to that. Is Ryan playing tonight?
Tick,
I think Ryan and Peters are getting the nod ahead of Hunter.
Line guesses anyone?
Vanek-Roy-Max
Paille-Goose-Hecht
Kotalik-Staff-Pommer
MacArthur-Peters-Ryan
With maybe MacArthur swapping in and out of the Staff line with Kotalik?
my line guess is this
Vanek-Roy-Stafford
Hecht-MacArthur-Pominville
Kotalik-Gaustad-Afinogenov
Paill-Ryan-Peters
in a cruel twist of fate:I’m in Boston tonight and Buffalo on Saturday…had to give both sets of tix away!
MacArthur is playing with Hecht and Pommers, and I agree they should keep Max down with Goose for now.
Next time you have to give away tickets keller, I’ll gladly take them off your hands.
I’m just glad that I’ll finally be able to catch a game for he first time in weeks. Laptop watching does not count, that was awful.

Boston announcers making fun of the Buffalo crowd—’not what it used to be’.
Roy and Vanek MUST be fucking separated.
