I’m a little out of the loop, given that I am in a location where there is exactly zero inches of snow on the ground. But I did see that the Sabres sent MacArthur back down to Rochester, while the Eagles cut Takeo Spikes.
MacArthur hasn’t played well of late, and it shows how much Ruff must like The Kaleta! to keep him up and keep him starting on a fourth line with Mair and Bernier.
I was one of those who thought the Bills might have been too hasty in running Spikes out of town. Score one for the Bills there.
So, feel free to amuse your snow-bound selves in the all-day open thread. Don’t worry, I get to shovel all this stuff tomorrow.

I wouldn’t know, Val. Center ice cut out immediately after the goal.
Massive props to Miller. Wow.
Good game.
Wolf, after getting my car stuck in the snow at the end of the driveway, I’m feeling a bit surly tonight.
Yup- he marched out on the ice with a look on his face- I think he was looking for one of the refs that lost us that game…
well i had designs of getting a ticket to the last game of the year in Boston – I thought maybe a playoff birth would hinge on that game – i’m not so sure anymore – I wish instant Nescafe on all those carolina players!
OK, this is the fist I’ve seen of Sylvester, Ray, and Roby tonight, so just wonderin’….
Did they get snowed in and have to broadcast from Irv Weinstein’s vintage 70’s basement studio?
So if we win out the 8 seed looks like a real possibility.
Kevin – I’ve shoveled twice so far, about 10 inches total, here is about 2 inches of new snow to be shoveled and more is coming tonight,
I think Razor is about to deck Sylvester after the way he cut him off there.
Holy Shit, Ruff was pissed. PISSED.
My gosh, yeah, Red; you could have cooked an eg on Ruff’s forehead there, while the room seemed cold when he left.
Son of a bitch; “egg.”
wow great game, wondering why sabres fans are so confrontational after a loss, still no hand tossing, just a lot of talk, typical…come on down some more, pay the Canes salaries and get chissled
This team stinks!
it’s been almost 12 hours since the boys tanked another – I found good coffee at Grand Ma’s deli – bought a few strands of pearls for mama (she who cannot be in the room during a game)- drank many draught “Tigers”, ate a sorry excuse for pizza at an “irish pub” and, guess what????
They’re still my “boys” – love em or leave em! if they miss the second season – I will still watch, all the while wishin my boys had made it!
that’s the 9:45 drunk report – gu-night bflo!
ClarksonU, is your posting in some sort of code? You’re about half retarded. Fair weather, douche bag fan…
ClarksonU… Sorry, but we don’t accept criticism from fans in cities that didn’t even realize they actually had a hockey team until two years ago. Come talk to us when you can actually fill your arena with more ‘Canes fans than Sabres fans.
come on down some more, pay the Canes salaries and get chissled
We’re glad to help. Maybe one day soon you’ll sell out your arena. Maybe even have more people in black and red than blue and gold… though some of those in black and red are probably still wearing our last jersey.
I think some of us came on here and said good game, and still you pull the new market smack?
Get over that crap. Biggest game of the year in college basketball is taking place 10 miles away from the arena, and we still had a good crowd.
Sure, there were Buffatuckians there.
As usual, they left unhappy. Hope they avoided arrest this time.
Of course. NYR vs BOS, both teams ahead of the Sabres. Of course the result is a shootout.
Sometimes I think the Sabres are just cursed.
DrFrank…
“Buffatuckians”… that’s pretty funny coming from a dude in bumfuck North Carolina… and don’t act all metropolitan cause I’ve been to Raleigh. It’s not exactly the cultural mecca of the world. (It MAY be the cultural mecca of North Carolina, but that’s not saying much.) The only reason there’s enough people in that city to even classify it as a city is because they all moved there from NY to escape the snow. So why don’t you go back to your tobacco farm and leave the hockey talk to the grown-ups.
Great game. Even though the Sabres lost I had a blast. That might have been the most Sabres fans I’ve ever seen invading RBC. It’s funny that fans from a team that’s practically out of the playoffs can invade the arena of a team that just won a cup 2 years ago and has been leading their division all year. Funny and kinda sad at the same time.
Someone obviously needs to increase the quality of reading education in Buffalo, because I have explained this several times.
THERE IS NO SCALPING ALLOWED IN NORTH CAROLINA. Therefore, ticket agents do not slurp up all the tickets like they do in other markets.
Therefore, there are always tickets available for walkup, usually on game day.
As for the other night (when we once again beat the Sabres and sent them home, and sent their fans back drunk and angry to either their buses or their unfurnished apartments, where they sleep ten to a room with other economic refugees from western New York) nothing competes with Duke vs. Carolina around here. You could have dropped money from a helicopter and advertised it for weeks, but if you did it at 9pm, hardly anyone would have shown up.
So, circumstances conspired to allow a lot of people to go watch their team lose and fall further from the playoffs.
Your team played well, though. Especially Miller. I assume he’ll be leaving soon, also?

weeeee! Look at all those sell out games! Did this team really win a cup 2 years ago?
I didn’t see too many angry Sabres fans at the game either, you see in the NHL they award 1 point to the team that loses in overtime. I’m not sure if you knew that. Besides we spanked you guys like 8-1 last time although I doubt the game was even televised here in Raleigh.
Nothing is sadder than a guy down here who can’t let go of living up there.
I’ll be sure and send you an email and describe the playoffs to you.
Typical Canes fan, you assume that just because I don’t like the same hockey team as you that I also hate North Carolina and the South even though I’ve never said anything that even suggested that. I merely pointed out the fact that I think your fanbase is crappy and then backed it up with actual attendance numbers that prove my point. You may want to consider not taking every insult that we throw at your beloved Hurricanes so personally, it’s just a game afterall.
Your attendance numbers prove we have 16 thousand a game.
Gee, that’s just horrible. Except that it’s not.
And you need to work on your reading comprehension a bit, bub. Either that, or stop putting words in peoples’ posts. I didn’t say a thing about you hating North Carolina. I’m not sure how you could, coming from Buffalo.
A move to Detroit would be an improvement.
Transplant fans who can’t let go, and feel the need to come to the arena and act like jackasses just suck. Somehow, I sense you are one of those. Just a hunch.
Your team played well tonight. They usually do. It’s just sad that such a gutsy team has such fans.
