More Than One Way to Write an Article

A more measured tone this week, wouldn’t you say?

Probably could have added all those details about the Sabres not being able to leave Buffalo a few rumor-choked columns ago, but what fun would that have been?

I also enjoyed Sully admiring our collective fortitude and gumption today as well. Its as if him and Bucky sit around marveling at the fact that no matter how much they scream the sky is falling, our blue-collar, lunch bucket, nose-to-the grindstone sensibilities allow us to weather the daily barrage of local news tailor-made to make us feel awful (including the Snooze’s hard hitting exposing pointing out that executive managment in WNY companies do better than the employees do, no doubt a phenomenon unique to WNY).

It turns out we’re just brighter than they give us credit for and stopped listening a long time ago.

Any truth to the rumor that Soupy is leaving SJ to play in Russia?

I’m still confused as to why he keeps saying Balsillie is a Hamilton native. Why does making stuff up have to be the default?

  4. Ryan says:

He still got in a “strong fan base as long as they are competitive” crack. I know its true, but you just know he was grinning when he typed it.

Also, the statement he alluded to by Quinn is clearly on the Sabres website and he could have written it verbatim. Do you think he held back due to word limits or because he didn’t want to hyperlink to the Sabres’ website?

    Would that make him Borschty?

I thought this line was pretty good:

“The Sabres have a strong fan base so long as they’re competitive.”

Or, if their owners don’t get arrested. Oops!

Now Bills fans – supporting mediocrity for 12 years – there’s a dedicated fanbase!

Oops – that’s what I get waiting an hour to in my comment!
