It’s been a long time since I regaled you with tales from my personal life, but there are a few things worth noting.
- We moved the family to the new house on June 11th. Last night, for the first time, we slept in our bedroom in our own bed. And my clothes are in an actual closet, instead of on various doorknobs, couches, and floors. Progress.
- I went to my second Bison’s game in a week last night. They’re not very good (the Bisons, not the game experience itself).
- I now have a fishing license.
- Also, I caught a bass in the Niagara River on Friday. Huzzah!
- SonThree’s scheduled arrival is now less than one month away.
- I have no internet connection at my house.
- DirecTV is way cooler than Time Warner, but I am not saving anywhere near as much money as I thought I would. The NFL Network alone makes it worth the switch, but programming all those remotes to ignore DirecTV’s shopping and gimmick channels is a pain in the ass.
- Seen at the Bison’s game: a man wearing a shirt that read “Firefighting is American!” Now please bear in mind that I am in no way denigrating the men who protect my family and home by running into buildings that are on fire, but I am wondering why it is “American.” In Russia, do they just stand around burning buildings while hoping for rain? And if firefighting is truly American, what do they do in a country like Canada, whose entire national identity is based around who they are not, meaning American? Would we hear Gord say “I was aboot to poot oot the fire, and then I remembered that firefighting is American, just like global warming, war, and not understanding hockey, so I let the brewery just burn doon!” I think maybe I’ll get that shirt, this hat, and have myself one sweet outfit.

“In Russia, do they just stand around burning buildings while hoping for rain?”
In Soviet Russia…..fires fight YOU!
Sorry. I couldn’t help myself.
I was going to say the same thing………………..
Was it also a FDNY shirt because their ranks have grown by the millions since 2001?
what happened to the new layout?
DirecTV rules. You’ll never go back to cable. Service is better, NFL and NHL channels… it’s just better!
JMills – the “no internet” thing is definitely slowing that down…
Totally agree on Direct TV. Programming it is a pain in the ass, and I thought I’d save more money than I do. Great selection, but not the most user-friendly.
Only problem I ever had with Direct TV was in a blinding rain storm it would go out for a bit. I think that had to do with the fact that it was mounted outside my bedroom window on the 4th floor in Philly and had no protection whatsoever from the elements. Other than that it was about half the price of Comcast to start.
Did you happen to see the gigantic jar of Peter Pan in mascot form last night? Possibly the creepiest thing I have ever seen.
Ugh. That “State Champs” hat still makes me cringe.
I admit I’m lost with that ’state champs’ hat. Have the sabes finally admitted they can’t beat anyone but high school teams?
Jerry Sullivan and Bucky Gleason don’t have internet connections at their homes either. I think Bucky caught a bass at the foot of Ontario Street. Jerry caught a cold.
Coincidence?
I think not.

many revisions of me ago – I conducted NFPA inspection of fire apparatus. I have inspected (in the factory) equipment destined for Canada, the USSR (Moscow) and coincidentally Buffalo & Williamsville. Yes, even “evil empires”* fight fires…
Best trip was to Pierreville PQ during a Montreal-Quebec City home & home series – half way tweenst the two, the dynamics in bar were golden.

I thought I saw that “Welcome to Kevin Pritchard” sign in the elevator…
The Bisons are pretty awful this year but with Jeff Weaver now on the team, the opportunity for comedy went up exponentially.
“Only problem I ever had with Direct TV was in a blinding rain storm it would go out for a bit.”
That only happens to you in a blinding rain storm. It can be storming in the next state and my DishNetwork goes in and out. Drives me nuts.
DirecTV will cut out if there is a large storm (rain or Snow) to the south – it usually doesn’t go out for long.
One other issue is heavy wet snow – I keep an old snow brush handy and duct tape it to the handle of the roof rake – the snow lays on top of the reciever for the dish and sags over, blocking the signal – if yer dish is on top of a two story roof you’ll need several roof rake handles. Otherwise it’s not too bad.
What’s the gig w/ the NHL channel – it’s now on level I don’t get (FUGGERS)
St Louis just dropped an offer sheet for Bernier…2.5 Mil
