Game Twenty-Two Open Thread: Pens at Sabres

I had definitely planned on writing more today, but things got in the way. I now have a great story about going to someplace called a “mall” on a day called “Black Friday.”

Looks like we’re headed to Morrisey’s before the game tonight for those interested.

  1. You poor, poor man. I think you are in need of a little fortification!

  2. Heather B. says:

I originally read that as “fornication.”

  3. Kevin J. says:

    Good evening, all.

  4. Susie says:

Rivet, injured? I can’t watch…I only get MSG at college.

  5. Kevin J. says:

Rivet is still on the bench but looks like he’s in pain, Susie. I kind of thought that he got hit by a cheap shot, maybe in his groin.

  6. Susie says:

    Who’s scratched tonight?

  7. Kevin J. says:

We’re still trying to figure that out, Paetsch definitely, and Connolly, but I can’t figure out the third scratch. Afinogenov, Paille and Mancari are playing, and Val said she saw Stafford listed with the lines. MacArthur is out there, too.

  8. Kevin J. says:

Oh, it may be Peters; we have neither seen nor heard from him so far.

  9. Kevin J. says:

    Son of a bitch.

  10. Susie says:

Stafford is definitely out there :)

  11. val says:

It’s so nice that the NHL hires the handicapped, with the blind refs and all….

  12. TheTick says:

What I like, everytime the puck goes somewhere, it seems like the Sabres are already there waiting. They are flying around, but with purpose. Nice.

Good job Mancari jumping in there to stand up for Key Lime.

  13. Kevin J. says:

Yeah, Mancari keeps doing things that will keep him up with the big club.

  14. Kevin J. says:

    YES, GAUSTAD!

    Let’s keep this lead.

  15. Kevin J. says:

Well, that lead didn’t last long.

  16. Ben says:

    The officiating is atrocious tonight…

  17. Kevin J. says:

Lindy is going to pop a blood vessel over the referees tonight.

  18. Kevin J. says:

    Boy, that really sucks.

  19. Susie says:

I so dislike Crosby…Malkin, too, for that matter.

  20. TheTick says:

    The officiating is atrocious tonight…

Yup. Refs are trying to decide the game tonight.

  21. Susie says:

    They better come out mad.

  22. TheTick says:

Yes, I hope Kaleta ‘accidently’ checks the refs…maybe the linesmen too, I think they missed an icing.

  23. Susie says:

    2 for Stafford…wow!

  24. Kevin J. says:

I hope twoeightnine has been able to watch Stafford’s effort tonight.

  25. Kevin J. says:

    The quality refereeing continues.

  26. Dave says:

    The Goose is Loose

  27. val says:

    2 GOOSE GOALS! Thanks, neighbor!

  28. Kevin J. says:

Nice time for Gaustad to break out of his slump.

  29. Susie says:

Hattie for Stafford or the Goose?

  30. Dave says:

Great performance, nice to see the guys savor the victory at the end and show some emotions

  31. Susie says:

yahoo headline, previously…something like “Buffalo and Pittburgh meet in November – 2 teams going different directions.” wonder what they think now? hopefully the win streak continues.

  32. taro tsujimoto says:

It seems that all night the Penquins were finishing their checks. Rivet, Goose and the Kaleta seemed to be the only Sabres doing the same. Does anyone else see it that way?

  33. TheTick says:

Lydman had 6 hits, so you’d have to at least add him in there as well.
