A Reason to Watch

Nathan Gerbe is going to make his debut with the Buffalo Sabres tonight.

Not that Lindy Ruff needs my advice, but let me say this; if you’re in, go all in. No eight minutes on the fourth line. Give him wingers not named Mair and Peters and a regular shift. Then let him have at it.

    couldn’t agree more, Kevin.

Players bear ultimate responsibility but Lindy has done arguably his worst job of coaching this year. If a coach’s job is to put his team in the best position to win games, he has failed. Gerbe is (only going to succeed as) a top-6 forward – he needs to be placed there.

I’ll bet he is with Hecth and Poms and on a PP unit.

    RAV reunited for another line.

Then 2 craptastic lines. TC would be nice. Suck it up guy.

Please no peters. It was almost bearable to watch last game without him.

Mancari was up against his 10 game limit anyways, assuming we care about keeping him around for next year, which I doubt.

I am done with Mair. He needs to go.

I agree as well. Put the G-man with Vanek or Pominville and watch the magic. This team clearly needs to shake things up with a trade or two that brings in 3 or 4 new faces to change the playing character of the team. IMO it needs a first line playmaking center to team with Vanek, and a puck moving defensemen. Has anyone noticed that our D no longer carries the puck to the red line, much less the other team’s zone?

I’m not sure how much of the problem is Lindy Ruff or the team tuning him out. It seems as if he’s trying to push a boulder uphill. A coaching change would work for 10-20 games and then it would be back to the same lazy, polite, self-satisfied style of play. One thing I would like Lindy to change is our muck it up offense. While we waste time and energy diddling along the boards, no one plants himself in front of the net for a centering pass. Hiding beside the net is as close to “in front” as it gets. Here’s hoping G has a long and productive career with the Sabres.
