Game Sixty-Four Open Thread: Canadiens at Sabres
I’ll be in attendance tonight, and I am looking forward to the atmosphere in the building.
Imagine, for a moment, if today had been a sell-off for Buffalo. Connolly gone, Kotalik gone, and an angry fanbase. Add to that thousands of Montreal fans and it would have sounded like a home game for Montreal.
That would have sucked.
So at least in a “must-win” game like Buffalo faces tonight the fans should be a little fired up. At least more than the usual morgue-like atmosphere that exists for weeknight games.
With one point in their last three games the Sabres have taken themselves out of a playoff spot, and they need to get some momentum going.
No time like the present.
7:30 start from HSBC tonight. All I have heard are rumors, but on WGR they have said that Moore is not expected to play tonight but that Tellqvist is in town.

I still have that jersey. After stints at Georgetown and the U.S. Army, I have settled in DC where my Sabres, Bills and Hoyas passion runs unabated (I have season tickets to all 3). I believe that while supporting my franchises is good, I believe supporting them with data and statistics is better. -

Max had a very good game. Slightly mind-boggling but true.
Quality win against a playoff-bound opponent – in the division, no less! Nice night.
Max played defense tonight, that’s why he had a good game. The man can’t shoot to save his life and his puck handling is just north of Mite level. All he has is speed, but that’s enough on defense.
On the NHL Network feed they cracked that Max was bidding for the Selke. If he back checked like that all the time, maybe…
On a related note to John’s comment, I think Ray Ferraro is a very good color guy. Cuthbert’s not bad, but Ferraro’s honesty was refreshing.
Nice all-around effort from everybody. If this team put this much effort into the remaining games, they should make the playoffs. Looking forward to seeing Dominick Moore in person in a Sabres jersey Fri. night. Who will be in goal??
Spacek had an enzone-to-enzone rush, Gaustad scored on a breakway, Paille was crashing the net all night, Lalime stood on his head and earned a Ryan Miller shutout: who are these guys.
It’ll be nice to see what happens when Moore brings his energy.
