Buffalo should be proud. The city was well represented. On a day when college bowl games were supposed reign supreme, the City of Buffalo stood tall and helped the NHL showcase hockey to a nation that has forgotten what a good game it is.

Buffalo -- great job!

I want to thank Andrew and Peter for helping the King and I out by getting us hooked up with tickets to this great event. They weren't the best seats in the house but it's the thought that counts and I know it wasn't their fault. That's just the way it worked out. We were very grateful to be able to join in this historical day in Buffalo. For that fact, they gets big time props.

In addition, we had the luxury of meeting up with the blfoblog posse. What a great bunch. They even fed us. We had the local roast beef on weck as well as some cheesy potatoes. Wow, they were good! Thanks for the hospitality. It was a great way to start the day and the year.

It was a rather unique experience to say the least. I've been to many NFL games live, but I don't remember seeing it snow like it did yesterday and they played hockey in it no less. It really made for a perfect setting.

As for the way the game played out, I couldn't have wrote a better script myself. The NHL and NBC got exactly what they wanted. A record crowd in a small market in a game showcasing one of their young up and coming stars in Sid the "Kid" and the game went to a shootout another outdoor first with the Kid winning it. Unfortunately the home team lost but everybody in the house seemed to have left happy regardless. What a way to start the New Year!

Yours truly,

Gary Herman
