We used to roll out these things within days of our official visits, so apologies for taking so long to get this up on the USRT site.
Nonetheless, we are pleased to unveil the official venue profile for Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the NFL Indianapolis Colts.
We met and deliberated just yesterday to come up with the scores for each of the criteria in how we evaluate a sports venue. Here are the scores (10 pts maximum per category):
Architecture: 9
Food and team store: 6
Scoreboard and electronics: 6
Ushers: 7
Fan support: 7
Location and neighborhood: 8.5
Banners and history: 4
In game entertainment: 8
Concourses/fan comfort: 8.5
Bonus points: Tailgate scene: 1; White Castle nearby: 1; Entertainment at each gate: 1; Indianapolis kick ass town: 1; Retractable roof and wall: 1; Lucas Oil main gate and atrium 1
TOTAL: 70
So 70 points is good enough to earn the Colts a 6th place tie in our rankings of all 32 NFL teams that also means that our home team and stadium, Ralph Wilson Stadium, drops to 30th place in the USRT matrix. Yikes!
Agree or disagree on the NFL rankings? Have at it…

I love the Ralph like the red-headed stepchild that it is but it’s time for it to go. The sight lines are great, the tailgating is tops but other than that it’s horrible. Getting into the game gets worse and worse each week. Gates don’t open on time, the mass of people trying to jam through them grows and grows with no sensible order. (This caused me to miss most of the first quarter last night, I guess that was a good thing.) The signage and markings for trying to find your seats is lacking. I’ve given up drinking inside the stadium because I don’t want to fight the crowd to piss in a crowded disgusting bathroom.
