			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A series of six multimedia presentations entitled <em>Eye on History</em> will be presented by local African American writer and educator Eva M. Doyle at the Central Library in downtown Buffalo beginning Friday, February 10, 2012.  All of the programs are free and open to the public from <strong>Noon – 1:00 p.m.</strong> in the Library’s Ring of Knowledge on the main floor. Presentation topics will range from teaching <a class="zem_slink" title="African-American history" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_history" rel="wikipedia">African American history</a> in the schools, to the contributions of local Black women, to the meaning and history behind the annual Juneteenth celebration.</p>
<p>Ms. Doyle was an elementary school teacher with the Buffalo Public Schools for 30 years retiring in 2004.</p>
<p>She is the author of 11 books on African American history.  For the<strong> past 33 years Ms. Doyle has written a weekly <em>Eye on History</em> column first for the Challenger in 1979 and continuing to this day in the Criterion newspaper.</strong><strong>  </strong>Ms. Doyle has received numerous awards including Woman of the Year from UMOJA, Inc.; the Service to Education Award from the Stop the Violence Coalition; and the Community Service award from Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.</p>

<p>Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski said, “We are so pleased Eva Doyle is bringing her lifelong experiences about the culture, history and traditions of African Americans to the Library. I know these will be very interesting, enriching and positive messages for the entire community.”</p>
