Ice Bowl Open Thread: Pens at The Ralph

I figured I may as well get this one up early, since there’s no way I’ll remember it in the morning.

It’s the biggest sporting event to occur in the City of Buffalo in my lifetime. The only things that may compare are the comeback game against Houston (which nobody knew would be a big deal) and the 51-3 win over the Raiders.

But in this case a league is putting a huge amount of faith in our city and our fanbase. Wait’ll Canada and the ten states that give a shit about hockey get a look at us tomorrow. Buffalo is going to be the envy of every hockey town, and rightly so. A Bills crowd 0f 73,000 at a hockey game? Pffft. Plus another 12,000 at the HSBC?

And I predict the streets of Buffalo are going to look like they did when the Bills were in the playoffs in the nineties. Ladies, you want to hit the malls when they’re not crowded, then tomorrow’s the day, because it’s going to be like a ghost town. Every Buffalonian who can;t be at the game will surely be watching.

Puck drop is expected around 1:20. Enjoy.

Looked like Miller decided too late to commit to the poke-check. Great game though, much fun. Can’t wait to see the pictures. :)

What a fantastic scene it was walking up to Rich Stadium, not to watch a football game, but to watch a hockey game. Totally dwarfed the Monday Night football game against Dallas at the Rich. It was awesome. Was really nice out when it wasnt windy. Snow was awesome. Hollywood snow. Like right on cue snow. It was awesome. The people were all awesome. You could see it in every1’s eyes. The “dont see this everyday” look. It was electric. People from everywhere. Virgina. Pennslyvania (sorry…had a little to drink…ha…it was so awesome!!!!). Canadiens of course. Michigan. Vermont. I do however have one gripe, they should of piped in Rick Jennerets voice over the loud speaker. It was so quiet. No play by play. It would of been awesome to hear his play by play commentary throughout the stadium. It was the only thing missing .

  23. Dave S. says:

    Yes, but… was it awesome?

  24. Cliff says:

Dude it was awesome. The energy that you felt everywhere around the Ralph was incredible. And the sea of Sabres jerseys…. oh those beautiful Sabres jerseys. It was a day I will never forget- and that’s saying something considering I drank my face off yesterday.

  25. Ben says:

    Cliff,

He was making fun of Keith’s post above his…

  26. Dave S. says:

I kid because I love. Keith’s enthusiasm is … well, awesome.
