    Not even close

  2. DaveD says:

    No goal.

  3. Kevin J. says:

Good job, Red; and some people wonder where today’s parenting skills are on display.

  4. Kevin J. says:

I would normally say that the Sabres are snake bit, but Stafford is really sucking lately.

  5. Red says:

Oh yeah. I think it’s the wife that’s got the parenting skills…she told the little one to come over to the basement stairs and yell for me to change her. Smooth.

    No goal. No surprise.

  6. Kevin J. says:

Val just pointed out how “wide right” and “no goal” are haunting Buffalo again this week.

  7. twoeightnine says:

    Shut yo mouf Kevin.

  8. Kevin J. says:

Never underestimate the decision making skills of a repeat mom.

  9. val says:

    well, shit!

  10. Chris says:

    Oh jeez. &^%$

  11. Red says:

Mother pussbucket! That’s just about insurmountable the way things are going tonight.

  12. twoeightnine says:

Ugh. This team is going to lead me to run out of booze. Herradura gone. Vodka gone.

  13. val says:

I’m telling you, they have less than 24 hours to get their shit straight. We haven’t been to a game in 2 years! And we’ve got really good seats!

  14. Dave S. says:

    HOLY SHIT!

You want exciting football, UB has it! They did it again! Tied it late and won in OT!

    MAC EAST CHAMPIONS! BOWL BOUND!

Off to ESPN News for highlights!

  15. val says:

I think Marty subconsciously (or not) needs to shut out the guy that kept him on the bench for 2+ seasons…

  16. Red says:

Jesus H. W. Christ, Stafford!!!!! Gotta get one of them IN the net!!!!

  17. val says:

OK, we DVR’d the UB game, and Kevin does not know the score, so don’t mention it – I’m just gonna keep the ‘puter away from him for a bit. He may need the surprise after this…

  18. Red says:

I’ve got tis friend that’s a HUGE Flyers fan. Dude is going to be unbearable for…when do we play Philly again?

  19. Kevin J. says:

Val has a cousin in NJ the same way, Red, and she can be nasty about things. She has a 24-kt gold Flyers necklace.

  20. Red says:

Great. Between prostate cancer and Herschel Gelber I’m thinking the Sabres could really use some new sponsors.

What the hell is wrong with beer, or a cool bar, or a band or something being a sponsor? I’ll bet their commercials would be a lot better.

  21. Kevin J. says:

Jesus on a fucking pogo stick; Harry Neale has to ruin it for me. Nice work, slappy, after all the hard work Val did to try to keep the surprise.

  22. Red says:

At least her cousin lives kind of close, maybe grew up with them? And who wants to be a Devils fan anyways.

My buddy has no excuse. Besides 14 months in Florida a couple years ago, this guy never left Hamburg…TRAITOR!

  23. Red says:

    Nice tackle.

  24. twoeightnine says:

Mac East Champions? I know that UB doesn’t have much history but is Western NY to the point that we’re celebrating being the 5th best team in a mid-major?

  25. Kevin J. says:

Yea, Val’s cousin is just over the Penn-NJ border; Val’s father was born in Point Pleasant Beach.

So, how did your friend become a Flyers’ fan, Red, and why is he still your friend?

And how many chances is Stafford going to get and miss?

  26. twoeightnine says:

I lived in Philly for 4 years. I’ve got you all beat.

  27. Kevin J. says:

The hockey gods choose to pee on the Sabres; look out for Cleveland Steamers.

  28. twoeightnine says:

Stafford and Gerbe need to switch places or Kennedy if we’re worried about size.

  29. Red says:

I don’t know how the dude became a Flyers fan…maybe the same way my brother became a Dolphins fan for a few years – just to piss people off. At least my brother got over it. :)

I think Stafford cost me a good 15 minutes of sleep.

  30. Chris says:

While I agree with Neale’s general premise, you really have to parse through a lot of mish-mash to get there.

  31. Kevin J. says:

I spent a weekend in Winona, Minnesota, so things are close, twoeightnine.

  32. Kevin J. says:

My brother was a Boston Bruins and Oakland Raiders fan, Red, so sady, I understand.

  33. twoeightnine says:

I spent a weekend in Winona, Ryder. I kept my wallet close.

  34. Red says:

Well, good for Marty. At least I like the dude. I hope they play that much better tomorrow night, Val and Kevin, so that you can enjoy!

  35. Red says:

I thought it was Winona Horowitz. And was anyone else with you, 289?

  36. Kevin J. says:

She came from Winona, Minnesota, twoeightnine, but changed the spelling of her first name to Wynona. Let’s put it this way: the Thanksgiving weekend I was there, they were thrilled to be marking their first holiday season with a Target in town.

  37. val says:

Thanks, Red. We can’t just loose forever…
    I like Marty too….

  38. twoeightnine says:

She’s Jewish? Those girls are crazy. She actually didn’t change her first name Kevin, just the last.

  39. Dave S. says:

“OK, we DVR’d the UB game, and Kevin does not know the score, so don’t mention it – I’m just gonna keep the ‘puter away from him for a bit. He may need the surprise after this… ”

Oh, man, I’m sorry. I should have asked first. Didn’t know it was on local TV. Mea culpa. I’m an ass.

  40. kevin2 says:

    fuck the system

  41. Dave S. says:

“Mac East Champions? I know that UB doesn’t have much history but is Western NY to the point that we’re celebrating being the 5th best team in a mid-major?”

I’m going to have to research the last school that won a major conference championship its first ten years in D-1.

Yeah, I’m celebrating. And if they continue to progress and someday play Penn State in the Rose Bowl, I can say, “I was cheering them back in the day”, instead of “I waited until this year to support them and be impressed. Oh, was this seat on the bandwagon yours?”

If you’d rather bitch about a pro team that’s headed to Toronto instead of get psyched up for a bowl game for the conference championship – even if it’s not an impressive-enough bowl – that’s your choice, but you’re cheating yourself out of some fun. The Bulls won a bunch of heart-attack games this year. Good stuff.

  42. val says:

Dave, I caught it, but the Harry Neil blabbed it…
It was on Channel 13- Time Warner’s local sports channel…

  43. Dave S. says:

ESPN2 will have UB highlights at halftime of the Fresno-San Jose game in the next ten minutes or so.

  44. Susie says:

@ 68 & 69…my boyfriend is a Flyers fan :( . He’s being really good about it though. Don’t you hate it when people are great except for their suckitude in choosing sports teams?
