Unfathomable. Unreal. Unfuckingbelievable. Those are the only possible reactions to this.
Despite going on a 1-7 slide that left the Buffalo Bills out of the playoffs, coach Dick Jauron signed an extension on Sunday, sources told ESPN.
Emphasis obviously mine. Though no one could fault ESPN if it was theirs. Does this happen in any other city? If this isn’t a sign that Ralphie has completely lost it then I’m not sure what is. Imagine if he went 2-6, we might have Dick for 5 more years. 3-5? Head coach for life!
Honest question. How many home games are on TV next year? Opening day will always sell out. The Toronto game of course, once Rogers buys up half the tickets. The timing of this announcement is even better than last week’s email blast asking me to put down a deposit for next year’s season tickets less than 24 hours after the Bills shit the bed once again while playing a “home game” in another city. Someone in the front office needs to take Marketing 101.

nothing surprizes me with this sorry team anymore
What difference does it make.
If Trent plays well. The team will play well.
Its all about the Quarterback. The team likes the guy. And a new coach wouldn’t do a thing.
“Does this happen in any other city?”
Something tells me the Bills will be playing in another city (and not just Toronto) by the time this deal’s over.
So, techinally…..
It’s Ralph’s way of giving the finger to Buffalo again. The quarterback can’t be the key in Wilson’s World – remember he said that the team was talentless just last week.
It’s his team and he can do what he likes with it. People can support it or not.
You know what I wanna know?
Where are all those JP supporters today? Where is the “JP gives us the best chance of winning” contingent of Buffalo fans?
I miss those guys. They were funny.
You know it’s possible that Ralph is thinking long term. He is making the property (the team) so ugly that no out of towners would want it, and make it cheap enough that the locals would be able to afford the mortgage without driving the ticket prices sky high>
Does anyone else here feel the way the Bills do business harkens back to the baseball comedy movie “Major League?”
If only we’d get a happy ending, too…
I will begin by saying that I completely disagree with any decision to keep Jauron.
However, I think Jauron was able to carry the day with the argument that he deserves one more draft and free agent period. I do not think it is entirely without merit. But, I think its very important to enphasize that no position is untouchable with the exception of RB.
Edwards is a joke. We would never have seen Jim Kelly pull himself out of a 10-3 football games if Thurman was running like Lynch was. Drafting a QB should be an extremely high priority.
Unfortunately, Dick Jauron messed up the QB situation in Chicago – and they still haven’t recovered. I have an uneasy feeling he’s destroying Buffalo as well.
Ummm, Edwards didn’t pull himself out of that game. The coaching staff did. He got his groin pretzeled on the second to last play of the half when Peters blew a block.
I’m not happy at all – at all. But you misquoted the article you linked to big time.
Nowhere in it does it say he signed the extension “on Sunday” (sorry don’t know if I can boldface it like you did).
In fact, the article implies that it was signed last October when the Bills were 5-2.
Nope Dave, didn’t misquote it. Not at all. I’m not sure how or why I would have pulled that quote out of my ass. ESPN just updated it recently and did not make any mention of that fact at all. That was originally the first or second sentence in the story.

I don’t understand why anyone supports this team since the Toronto deal went through. The reality is if everyone turned it off for a year Ralph would have to come back and beg for forgivness he can’t just get the fan pool up there by moving thme.
It use to be we complained players came and wnet and had no loyalty to the team now the whole damn team is moving. What an insult to the fans of this comunity.
It is time to move on.
Screw them.

Just the thought of a cardboard cutout of Ralph in the locker room that slowly loses clothing as the Bills win games makes me never want to watch an NFL game again.
Where else does this happen? Well, Auburn just hired a guy that has gone 5-19 the last two years at Iowa State. So, yeah, could be worse I suppose.
As for whether Jauron is the right guy, I am more concerned with finding a legit NFL quarterback to lead this team and an offensive coordinator that properly utilizes the Bills’ best weapon, Lynch.
I am so tired of hearing about how Trent Edwards is this lightning rod that the Bills need to be a real team again. The fact is, he is just another flash in the pan, like J.P, and every other QB that’s been here sense Kelly. 90% of the time he is simply a dump off passer. He has yet to beat any quality opponent & until he does he will remain just a second tear QB in my opinion. As for J.P. My father had a word for QB’s like him “Rockhead”. This idiot has no idea where he is half the time or what he is doing once he gets those happy feet going. Coach Dick is another “Rockhead”. With the lead & our running game going well. To over rule a running play with 2min to go, call a pass, & leave the rest in the butter hands of a man that gives the ball away so carelessly more times than I can count, deserves not only to not coach in this league but not even coach little league team. And J.P. In my own opinion, your nothing more than 3rd string or even practice squad material. Both of you nitwits can bite me. Ralph, sell the team to someone who maybe gives a shit & wants to win, move the team and be losers someplace else or croak already will ya !!!!
I still believe in Trent Edwards. Pro Bowl QBs don’t make their first Pro Bowl until 28 – TrEd is 25. He’s the future and I have faith in his skills. He’s come a long way in two years.
I too think Edwards will be a fine QB. Second year player who didn’t see the field much in his first year, and he showed so much early on.
Bills fans have unrealistic expectations about young players (see: Hardy, James). I maintain that Edwards will be a Pro Bowl QB in his time here.
289- Thanks for making my point for me…Edwards obviously isn’t a leader. He wimpered away – which is a symptom of this entire organization’s weakness. Kelly is- and should be- the type of QB we set our standards to – and he would have raised hell all weak about getting pulled (if that’s true.) Edwards should have been man enough to fight to play and challenge this coaching staff for their buffoonery. Edwards is the pied-piper of weaklings and cowards that make up this roster. They sure aren’t playing like they trust this coachin staff.
@ 14.) AMEN. the bills have the biggest o-line in the league and a potential thunder/lightning combo in marshawn lynch, as well as a good blocking TE in royal and a good blocking WR in reed. so what do they do? throw a bunch of fruity incompletions to roscoe parrish. makes perfect sense to me!
and speaking of roscoe…someone needs to force-feed him steak for the next six months so he puts on 10 or 15 pounds. he is roughly the same size as leon washington, steve smith, and wes welker…ok a little lighter than washington, but still. beef this guy up and let him run the damn ball two or three times a game. he’s the most dangerous open-field runner on the team, and he’s also about 5′7, so we…line him up on the perimeter and try to throw him the ball over taller DBs. again, makes perfect sense to me.
i actually kind of like jauron – i think it definitely says good things about him that the team, despite their utter crapitude, is not throwing anyone under the bus – but the offensive philosophy is just unexplainable and, unfortunately, fireable.
“the bills have the biggest o-line in the league and a potential thunder/lightning combo in marshawn lynch”
…lynch and fred jackson, i meant to say, of course.
You can’t honestly be comparing Trent Edwards to Jim Kelly already can you? A second year QB to one of the greatest to play the game? A QB in today’s NFL to one of the surliest pricks to ever take a snap? If you’re waiting on another Jim Kelly just move the hell on, you’re going to be disappointed for the rest of your life.
Some one please tell me how the bills will get any better w the people we have in place? they have been here for three years and we have seen no improvment. Those out there that thing its not coaching look at what bill parcells did with basicly just adding two players and a coach Jake long and Chad. So how can we not go after some one like cower?
289- Why shouldn’t we as Bills fans at least compare current QBs and their leadership to the best? Why shouldn’t Bills fans demand leadership and passion from their football team? Are some fans just so damn shellshocked that we shrug our shoulders when our QB “goes quietly into that good night.” And 289- this coaching staff handed the ball to Edwards and essentially annointed him (especially after the great start) so sorry- I won’t agree with Edwards apologists.
