Game Fifty-Six Open Thread: Sabres at Senators
Middle of the week game, on the road, and a 7:30 start. Usually means a good night for business around these parts.
One quick note: I love Harrington’s point on the stance Brian Campbell is taking in his negotiations with the Sabres. Again, negotiations are not “botched” just because one side is not willing to meet the other side’s demands.

I am a born and raised Buffalo fan since my birth in Niagara Falls in 1977. For reference, my first communion gift from my parents was a replica Sabres Home White Mike Ramsey jersey. I still have that jersey. After stints at Georgetown and the U.S. Army, I have settled in DC where my Sabres, Bills and Hoyas passion runs unabated (I have season tickets to all 3). I believe that while supporting my franchises is good, I believe supporting them with data and statistics is better. -

And the Canes beat the Bruins tonight… nice!
The Sabres should have been doing this earlier in the season, but I’ll still take it now. A good effort and skating by the entire team tonight.

I like how Miller was happy about the effort and play but not too effervescent or putting too much into it, This is as good as the Sabres should be playing.

I saying I told you so but…
I always said Vanek just needed to adjust and get his head on straight. In a year or two his contract is going to be the best value in the league. I guarantee it.

On a side note if Trevor’s 6-1 prediction had come true I would have crapped my pants.
Whoooo! Never been so glad to be so wrong. I was totally rooting for the 6-1 just so that I couldn’t be more wrong. Can’t believe the boys were that up for this game.
So I watched the game in Crystal City, Va where I had a Red Wings “fan” explain to me that scoring a goal on a two man advantage will release one of the players from the box… I looked at him, turned my Sabres hat directly towards him and said no words. He didn’t speak the rest of the night.
I’m glad you guys explained what that Roby piece was, I didn’t have sound at the bar so I sent Kevin a text saying that it was the worst sex ed video ever.

Ben and 289, et al… now that the shock and disbelief has worn off and it’s apparent that Vanek’s hat trick wasn’t the result of the official scorer having been drunk off his ass, I will say, once again, having been one of Vanek’s harshest critics on this site, I’m glad to see him coming off the schneid finally. (Holy run-on sentence, Batman!) I hope he proves me wrong and has 40 goals by the end of the year. I really do. I will be the first one to get on here and publically admit that I was wrong.

The Sports Pub. Kind of cool place though the bartender was a bit of a dick. Some hot waitresses though. Probably find a different bar to watch tonight.
It also didn’t help that DC drivers are absolutely horrible. What was supposed to be a 30 minute drive took 1 hour because the GW Parkway was a giant accident. I’ve never seen so many people parked in a forest.

Being a veteran driver, I went around 395 N and over Key Bridge to get back to my place in DC. Just easier that way.
