Weekend

This weekend is our 10th wedding anniversary. We were married at Marsh Chapel at Boston University, with a reception at the fantastically beautiful Wharf Room of the Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf. I hardly remember the wedding or reception itself, but I recall walking to Faneuil Hall to get Bertucci’s and some beer for dinner.

I always thought the limo business was one step above used car salesman on the class-o-meter, and the guy on our wedding day didn’t disappoint. As we finished taking photos around Marsh Chapel, the limo driver asked us if we’d like some champagne for the 10-minute ride down Storrow Drive to the waterfront. Sure.

He takes out a bottle of cheap-ass champagne, pops the plastic cork, and gets out his credit card swiper. Luckily, I had a wallet, and charged the damn thing – but isn’t that tacky?

Last night we got a couple of lobsters and did them on the grill. I had an OJ moment when I had to follow Steve Raichlen’s lobster-grilling instructions, and plunge a large kitchen knife between the lobsters’ eyes to kill it before I grill it.

Not every day that your dinner can be both savage and tasty.

Enjoy the weekend & the light posting.
