A Purge!

Giambra gets kicked out of the cool kids’ clique.

Erie County Republicans have all but purged Joel A. Giambra from their party following a string of Election Day defeats they blame on the embattled county executive.

Several high-profile Republicans, including former State Attorney General Dennis C. Vacco and former County Comptroller Nancy A. Naples, say Giambra and his handling of county finances caused the party to get pasted at the polls.

Now they are going further than ever to make it clear he is persona non grata within the GOP.

“The Republican Party of the future is a Republican Party without Joel Giambra,” Erie County GOP Chairman Robert E. Davis said Thursday.

Obviously, no one can “kick” Giambra out of the party. Only he can do that himself. But maybe this move will hasten his eagerly anticipated departure from public office.
