Equal Time

A few years ago, when Joe Illuzzi, the bank-robber-turned-media-baron behind the wildly successful and brilliantly reasoned and written “politicswny.com” attacked somebody – anybody, he didn’t provide the target with time or space to respond. He could attack, throw out rumor and innuendo willy nilly, without contradiction.

To this day, convicted deadbeat dad Illuzzi continues to throw out names and accusations like they’re so much rubbish, but doesn’t provide a comments section, and doesn’t permit his targets to defend themselves.

Well, anyone can start a blog now, and most of them have comments sections. This one included. And when former bankrupt Joe Illuzzi wants to respond to the truth by throwing up additional lies and obfuscation, never let it be said that I don’t accommodate:

So, to everyone who thinks I was being a bit harsh bringing up Illuzzi’s criminal and deadbeat history, just remember that he’s not exactly Mr. Civility. It’s already been pointed out to this snake oil salesman that Scott Jones has not only nothing to do with WNYMedia.net, but none of us have ever even met him. And if Illuzzi wasn’t so busy shaking down political candidates for overpriced web/magazine ads, he’d have no real means of support, so his attack on Watchdog, who was let go because of lies spread by Tim Howard’s staff, is not only kind of lame, but galling – coming from a guy who relies on the 1st Amendment to do what he does.

I appreciate the amount of space you all give me on all of your sites. I know that you post this fiction because you believe your numbers will improve. That is just another contradiction in your fiction. You claim my stats are low. I am an unknown; but yet you spend all of your time thinking & writing about me to draw traffic to your sites?

No one says you’re an unknown. You can’t even bother to read what people write. What we said, and is patently, verifiably true, is that your site gets only about 5-6,000 unique visitors per month. That’s less than my site gets. Your “hit count” is meaningless, and your use of that hit count to sell advertising rates is unfair and deceptive.

Let me tell you something boys. nobody cares. I can’t find anyone who reads your sites. But I do because you all are so funny. Also, at one time or another you all asked me to post & or link your nonsense to my publications. Your blogger Russ Thompson for years this guy has driven me crazy with his insanity.

Rus Thompson isn’t “my blogger”. He comments on this site. The commenters on this site are folks who read the site – they’re not affiliated with the site. Which goes back to my central premise from months ago, which is that blogger Joe Illuzzi doesn’t know what the hell a blog is, or how it works. You can’t find anyone who reads my site? Well, it’s twice as many people – actual pairs of eyes – than read yours in the last several months.

Oh! It wasn’t rage Sunday, Alan. Hardwick is the last person I would want to be in a foxhole with. My great disappointment in Kevin is he promotes anyone & everyone who writes these libelous, vacuous, diatribes directed at me. This after I lectured his class twice, helped him in campaigns, published his commentary. It has nothing to do with you Alan. You, Jones, et al., will come & go. You all are what compromise the integrity of this medium. But this is all about Hardwick; a person I called friend & respected. You Alan, et al., are irrelevant! Remember, Hardwick made it clear PoliticsNY.Net is his home page, not Buffalo Dumbdown, or WNY Beg for Cash!

You published his commentary and otherwise associated with Professor Kevin Hardwick because he’s got more knowledge, education, and credentials in the nail of his pinky than you’ll ever have in your entire vicious, angry body. You were the one who benefitted from your association with Dr. Hardwick, not vice-versa.

If you’re so fucking influential, explain how Satish Mohan kicked the shit out of your magazine’s cover girl, Susan Grelick?

And then feel free to provide one example of Hardwick “promoting anyone & everyone who writes … libelous, vacuous, diatribes” directed at you. And then point to so much as one defamatory statement that’s been directed at you, Joe. Just because the truth doesn’t jibe with your own sense of worth and self-importance, doesn’t mean it’s any less true. I think your advertisers should know the truth behind your site’s statistics, don’t you? If I’m so irrelevant, why was my name at the tippy-top of your site on Sunday at about 11:15, literally moments after I hung up the phone on Hardwick’s show?

Good. Put it on your site, together with a link to your un-password protected stats page, and then ask all of your advertisers to click it to see just how many people get to see their thousands-dollar vanity ads.

You don’t have the balls to make your stats publicly available. But I have them archived. I wonder what your political advertisers – judges, assemblypeople, senators, mayors – would say if they knew that it wasn’t millions of people seeing their ads each month, but instead a mere few thousand?
