Yesterday, it was Donna Fernandes returning to her beloved Buffalo from financially stable Fresno, CA.
Today, it’s the New Era Cap Company moving its HQ from Derby to downtown Buffalo, instead of Alabama.
New Era Cap Co. will locate its world headquarters in the former Federal Reserve Building on Delaware Avenue in downtown Buffalo. In the process, it will add about 240 jobs to its Western New York payroll.
The company plans to invest as much as $10 million to convert the staid financial building, known for its bulletproof glass windows and exterior gun turrets, into a fun, stadium-themed headquarters featuring a cap museum.
The international sports cap maker, currently headquartered in Derby, had considered moving its corporate staff to Alabama, but decided to stay in Western New York.
The fact that they’ll make it a visitor destination is simply awesome.
The company plans to boost its administrative staff from 180 to 300 as part of the relocation.
The move also opens up much-needed space at the Derby facility, making room for production expansion that will add 119 jobs to the plant’s 331-member work force over the next three years.
