South Park

South Park was wonderful last night. In a thematic reprise of last year’s episode on Mormons, last night they examined Scientology. ***SPOILERS BELOW****

It turned out that Stan was the second coming of L Ron Hubbard because he scored an OT 9 on the e-Meter. The elders of the Scientology Church told him the secrets of the faith, and South Park obviously animated the whole alien story. An overlay during the entire story – which is quite fantastical and crazy – read : Scientologists really believe all this (paraphrasing).

During the show, Tom Cruise gets upset because Stan doesn’t like his acting and hides in Stan’s closet. A good 2/3 of the show involves people demanding that Tom Cruise “come out of the closet.” At one point, John Travolta joins him, as does R. Kelly, who sings a few lines from “Trapped in the Closet” – especially the line where he takes out his gun.

In the end, Stan pleads with the Scientologists to “sue me. Go ahead and sue me!” Roll credits.

All the credits name “John Smith” and “Jane Smith”. Every. single. one.

These guys are simply geniuses.
