His recent political fight caused the NRCC to divert megabucks to help Tommy win by a hair over a prickly one-issue political novice.
Dave Staba has a great round-up of Reynolds news in the Reporter. Significantly, he points out that the analysis that the October storm helped Reynolds is wrong. After all, Reynolds lost Niagara and Erie counties, where the Buffalo news market not only splayed Reynolds’ FEMA-licking gob all over TV, but his Foley issues, as well.
In addition, this I didn’t know:
Whether [Reynolds] sticks around to serve the whole two-year term — or any of it — is another matter. Facing the loss of his lofty status as a Republican powerbroker, as well as a potentially unflattering report from the House Ethics Committee on his role in the Mark Foley imbroglio, Reynolds could resign his newly re-won position as early as the end of the year, local party sources indicated late last week.
It cost $8 million for Davis and Reynolds to make their cases to the people of the 26th Congressional District. If Reynolds just resigns after all that, prompting a special election, what a colossal waste of time, effort, and money the race just run would be. Reynolds will do just fine on K Street.
Imagine what $8 million would have bought for the people of this district.
