From the Albany Project Diaries, a story about an encounter with a former Reynolds staffer:
So, about 2 weeks ago I took the New York Bar Exam (gross, I know). While I was waiting on line to get in on the second day, I ran into a high school classmate of mine. He is a Republican, but he is still a nice guy so we chatted while waiting to get in.
I asked him what he is doing these days and he told me that he was working for Tom Reynolds before temporarily quitting to study for the bar. I asked him what he was going to do next, and he said he is trying to move to DC to work for basically any Republican, but that Reynolds also wants him back because he is going to be facing “some Iraq vet who runs a nonprofit” and is going to need all his experienced staffers to fend off what he thinks is going to be a very close challenge.
It was hard to stifle my gleeful laughter when he told me this.
They’re scared poopless.

Jon,
I think what you’re doing is on point man, true leadership. Nobody knows service better than a soldier. I just separated from the Army as a CPT in April after 4.5 years and two trips to Iraq with 4ID. As an Albany native, I know about upstate NY and leadership vaccum we have. I’ve thought about getting into government myself, but I’m not sure if that’s for me just yet. Glad to see you step up, if I could, I’d move to your district just to give you my vote. Congratulations, much respect, good luck!!
