Hey Carl : Those “stupid wny’s” you talk about have voted Reynolds into power for 10 years… where the f*ck are we now? worse off than when we started.
To those who think Powers never held a “real job” are you saying those WNY’ers who work in resturants, retail stores, working for the towns (ie: jon’s job in the town of clarence), creating and running a non-for profit charity, working in the military, and getting a college education to become a teacher not a job?
if so they go stand in front of the teacher’s unions, or the legion hall, or the town workers and tell them they don’t hold real jobs.
i know people who have had jobs for 3o years but still don’t have the leadership qualities of a chipmunk.

Talk about experience, what is Tom Reynolds experience? He is a career representative.

Tom is bought and sold by K street lobbyists and on board with whole GW program.

Chris Collins will endorse Powers, right? Because Collins is against career polticans.

jack davis didn’t win last time because the “progressive” wing of his own party sat out the election, cynically deciding that another two years of representation by a loathsome, war mongering, sex scandal covering up, republican haircut would be better than having a democrat they didn’t like personally.

that said, i’ll still support jon powers even if watching his campaign go down in flames would break my heart if i still had one.

niagara county dem chairman dan rivera, by the way, is an “official” in name only. he has overseen years of disaster in the county legislature, to the point where only three of its members are actually dems while a few others run under that flag but actually take their orders and funding from gop chair henry wojtaszek. he was unable to find anyone to run against mike violatne for district attorney, and even his own committeepeople are supporting republican ernie palmer in the upcoming special election for niagara county sheriff.

the party here doesn’t have two nickles to rub together and rivera will be lucky to finish out his term.

and yeah, committees endorsing in primaries sucks.

Whether you are a Democrat or a Republican you should be incensed that a candidate such as Jon Powers can’t get the support of the Erie County Democratic Committee just because someone with “his own money” might want to run again (for the third time)!!! If Western New York is going to rebound and build a sustainable future, we MUST encourage people like Jon Powers who represents our future not the past. If we keep discouraging young professionals from taking leadership positions we’re going to wake up some day and realize that we are a region that had an impressive past but not much of a future.

Have you met Jon or researched his life experience? Since when is defending your country during wartime in a volatile part of the world NOT a job? How about contacting families of soldiers that died under your watch…is that worthy of being considered a job? How about starting a non for profit company to help children with enormous needs. Certainly starting a company constitutes a job.

“possesses only a smile and a handshake” – I am not going to go where a retort easily could, but you should see his slide-tackle and his can jam skills. If you don’t know what I am talking about, perhaps you are out of touch.

“Say hello to another political hack in the making. This is why WNY is horrible.” – What exactly is it that makes WNY horrible? Are you predicting that Jon will win and that is why WNY is horrible? Or is the fact that someone WITHOUT political experience is running for office that makes WNY horrible?

If you are going to contribute to the conversation, at least say something constructive.
