Hardline with Hardwick Debates

Coming up this Sunday is a debate between the Democratic candidates for the SD-61; Michele Iannello, Joe Mesi, and Dan Ward.

Coming up the Sunday after that (August 31st) is a debate between the Democratic candidates for the 26th Congressional District.

Well, some of them.

Alice Kryzan‘ll be there. Jon Powers‘ll be there.

But what of His Highness the Duke of Bilosershire, Earl of Winningnot, Viscount of Failingham, Jack Davis? So far, he won’t be there.

Figures. After all, he can’t buy a win on Hardwick’s show.

Jack Davis ‘08: Good Thing I’m Loaded Because I’m A Chickenshit Misanthrope Otherwise

  2. Joanne L. Capone says:

Thanks for the info…should be a good debate on the issues..

As far as credentials: Joe Mesi-2 year degree, Michele Iannello, no college…Dan Ward…BA Political Science-Syracuse Univ. JD SUNY Buffalo

Experience: Joe…successful boxer forced to leave boxing with bleeding on his brain-Golisan-Pigeon controlled monies to poor in to direct Baby Joe in his votes should he win

Michele Iannello-two failed marriages, failed pizza business, 2 and 1/2 years in County Legislature with Hard Control Board in charge

Dan Ward…most successful vote getter among Town of Amherst Democrats..always supports the little guy over big developers who are more interested in circumventing Town Master Plan than in meeting the needs of home owners.

Good luck to all-Primary September 9th-hope the turnout at the polls is greater than 12% predicted.

  3. buffalomom says:

Why is it the Dan Ward team is so nasty and bitter? I mean, what’s next. Guest blogging while Illuzzi is in the slammer after his next bank job?

  4. Joanne:

    1. Why have you still refused to ask a simple question - Why are you supporting Jack Davis in spite of his pro-choice position?

    2. Why did you feel the need to bring up whether Michele had failed marriages or a failed pizza business? Last I heard she was a real estate paralegal before running for office, so I wonder why you omitted that. And are you insinuating that Michele had something to do with the imposition of a control board? Because all of that mess happened before she was elected.

Also, Dan Ward is such a champion of the people and a fiscal conservative that he became a named plaintiff in a lawsuit suing the Town of Amherst, thus creating a conflict for the Town Attorney necessitating the retention of outside counsel. That’s some leadership.

  5. Stephen Nazwisko says:

Joe Mesi agreed to face Dan Ward and Michele Iannello?

    hahahahahahahahahaha
    hahahahahahahahahahaha

    haha

    Oh man.

This is gonna be the funniest thing ever. Picture it…

Hardwick: What do you think we can do to bring jobs to the area?

Iannello: We need to invest in green energy, the University of Buffalo, programs to keep graduates here, and job training programs for the 21st Century

Ward: We need to establish apprenticeship programs that will train future generation, as well as an investment in teachers.

Mesi: ey-uh, I’m Joe Mesi, and uh, you know, we need jobs and stuff, because, uh, jobs leaving the area, you know, that’s no good. I mean, yeah. So,uh, Ima bring us good paing jobs to here, ok? And what they said too. (Falls over from another brain bleed)

  6. buffalomom says:

Anyone know what the Capone-DeSimone Institute for Peace and Social Justice is?

The only place it shows up on the web is the Amherst Times which surely means it’s a big joke.

  7. Stephen Nazwisko says:

    Joanne:

Dan’s going to take single digits on September 9th.

Write it down. Try not to cry too much when it happens.

  8. Stephen Nazwisko says:

    Buffalomom -

    It doesn’t.

They’ve never legally filed to become anything.

  9. buffalomom says:

Let’s also consider the climate around here and nationally.

Aren’t we all a little tired of male electeds who can’t keep it in their trousers?

Dan might be a great guy. Mesi might be a great guy (if you look past the bar fights). But I’m putting my money on women voting for women this time around. That is if the men haven’t turned the women entirely off to politics.

  10. buffalomom says:

BTW – Pundit – how many houses do YOU have?

  11. mike says:

steve, give mesi a chance, he is trying to be a productive member of society. And who hasnt been in a bar fight?

  12. Kathleen says:

    Alan,

I’ve been a reader of this blog for a couple years now.

    I’ve had it.

You are not the same blogger you used to be and really have become boring equivalent to a majority of the crap that circles around these intertubes.

    See ya’

  13. buffalomom says:

Mesi is a naive pawn of Steve Pigeon. Smell the illegal contributions from “Responsible” New York!

  14. @buffalmom – only one! And I remembered it right away!

@Kathleen – I am always astonished by people who bother to leave these types of inane messages. People come and go. I couldn’t care less.

  15. Dan Meyer says:

For Bedenko, Hardwick, Gramigna and everyone else.

This is what Joe Illuzzi is doing.

It’s not blackmail, it’s coercion. An investigation is hopefully underway.

    From Wikipedia:

Coercion is the practice of compelling a person or manipulating them to behave in an involuntary way (whether through action or inaction) by use of threats, intimidation or some other form of pressure or force.

Coercion may involve the actual infliction of physical or psychological harm in order to enhance the credibility of a threat. The threat of further harm may then lead to the cooperation or obedience of the person being coerced.

The term is often associated with circumstances which involve the unethical use of threats or harm to achieve some objective. Coercion may also serve as a form of justification for a conclusion in a logical fallacy or non-logical argument.

Coercion may also refer to more subtle means of influence such as sweet talking, begging, charming, and seduction.

  16. buffalomom says:

Pundit – will you have a “Hardwick Debate” entry so we can follow along an critique the contestants, I mean, candidates? Rate-n-rank’em?

  17. Jon Splett says:

Hardwick needs to start offering his show in a podcast.

I’d listen to this if I up before 2PM on a Sunday.

  18. hubba bubba says:

Where is Hudson when you need him?

$ 20 says Davis is a no show.

  19. buffalomom says:

I’ll bet $20 on Davis not showing AND $20 on Mesi not showing.

  20. Punch Drunk says:

Who in their right mind would vote for Mesi ? I would vote for a bucket o’ dirt beofre I voted for that guy.

  21. The Real Joker says:

It’s funny how people believe EVERYTHING in the news. First of all, let’s wait until the debate happens to see who’s for real and who’s not. Secondly, with the local, national, and international climate of politics we need a candidate who will best represent the region; that reads, someone who truly will fight for the people who voted him/her in. What does whether or not someone is a college-degree holder have to do with whether or not the person will best represent the people?

    Come on people….

Did any one of you actually see Joe Mesi in that barfight? Probably not. Don’t believe the hype…

  22. Stephen Nazwisko says:

OK Joker but Channel 4 found 2 witnesses with no reason to make that up or to lie, plus the guy clearly had a busted eye. I have it on tape and would be happy to sell it to Ward, Iannello, or Ranzenhofer.

  23. buffalomom says:

My friend was in the bar. Mesi slugged the guy. The guy was an ass. But a professional boxer should NEVER pick on a little pipsqueek like that. NOT COOL. DOES NOT belong in the State Senate.

Get him a Wayne’s World gig on cable. STOP INSULTING US.

  24. buffalomom says:

Oh wait! Mr. Speaker! Get a mop! Senator Mesi’s brain is bleeding all over the Senate floor – AGAIN!!!!

  25. pop goes the pimple says:

thats rough… the old “my friend was in the bar… swear to god he saw it”.

i’m not saying it didn’t happen, it probably did. i’m sure the guy deserved it.

stephen- if anyone had it on tape it would be sold, i mean released, by now so stop lying. if you are selling the tape, then your the type of guy who would bribe and blackmail politicians… so how can anyone take what you say seriously?

  26. Stephen Nazwisko says:

I have the tape of the newscast, idiot

  27. Jon Splett says:

Joe Mesi’s entire campaign is a testament to why this region will always be second rate.

A guy who managed to rise to a high heavyweight boxing ranking by fighting a string of strategically selected nobodies during a period in which boxing hasn’t been relevant in 20 years manages to launch a political career of his ‘fame’. Only Buffalo would make a hero out of a guy who isn’t even a ‘has been’; he’s a ‘never was’. Buffalo can’t even elect a legitimate unqualified sports hero to office, it has to settle for some guy who fought on the undercard of an HBO boxing special once or twice.

It doesn’t matter if he punched someone in a bar or not. Whatever did or didn’t happen was probably blown way out of proportion and I’m not about to take the word of ‘buffalomom’ and her ‘friend who was at the bar’.

    That’s missing the point.

The fact his candidacy has even gotten this far is a joke. He’s a boxer with an associates degree for christ sake. He’s more qualified to be the co-host of AM Buffalo than he is to hold an elected office.

  28. hank says:

If Mike was ever in a bar fight, he got the shit kicked out of him.

But I’ll be listening to hardwick in the morning. only about a 20 second delay streaming internet to radio.

  29. amherstguy says:

I think buffalomom has nothing better to do than sit in her underwear and blog all day. Ive met Mesi on several occasions. He is by no means a stupid man. He was at my door the other day and he was more than impressive. I didnt and i dont expect him to be an expert on policy but his resume is more than a boxing record. He marketed himself better than anyone, never missed an opportunity to be in the community, and has more proclamations, awards, and recognitions than most. Look, does this mean Im voting for him?? I dont know… But I just had to speak my mind. Hes no dummy!!!

  30. bam bam says:

stephen you have the tape of the news cast? anyone can get a tape of the newscast – so who’s the idiot? you think someone would by your TIVO instead of just getting the clip from the news and asking the witness themselves?

    you are obviously retarted

  31. Haterade says:

Spot on post , Splett …..

  32. buffalomom says:

Not in my underware. In a “housedress.”

My fashion choices are my business. Anyhow, fashion is always subjective and subject to change. Hems on skirts rise and fall with the financial markets.

But IQs are NOT subjective. Joe Mesi is a dumb as a rock. He’s a pawn of that nasty ahole Steve Pigeon. People stupid enough to be used by Steve Pigeon deserve all the shit they get. If you’re dumb enough to think Mesi is smart, you too deserve all the shit people want to give you.

  33. Dan Meyer says:

I agree about Davis and Mesi.

I think Mesi does not show tomorrow and Davis does not show next week but instead tries to “phone it in” and Powers and Kryzan jump all over him as a result.

I’ll be close to the radio tomorrow morning with a bowl of Honey-Nut Cheerios.

    Have a good show Kevin…

  34. Greg says:
I didn’t and I dont expect him to be an expert on policy
then he shouldn’t be running

  35. John Burke aka Haterade says:

Amherstguy on Joe Mesi : “his resume is more than a boxing record”

    Is it really ? http://www.votejoemesi.com/about/

If you were able to get bills passed by knocking fellow congressmen out, Joe would undoubtedly be the guy for the job.

  36. mike says:

buffalo likes jocks like mesi, he would be a great fit. nobody ever called jimmy a rocket scientist, but now that he’s dead, he’s loved by all. Have you seen the morons doing the bills promo’s? You gotta know when to yell and when not to, the blues look bluer and the reds look redder. Sheep is a better word for the people of western new york, even madison ave thinks we are mostly morons living here.(and they might be right)

  37. Amherst Guy says:

    Hey amherstguy

    Stop using my handle, asshole.

  38. Dan Meyer says:

    Co-host of AM Buffalo?

Hmmmm…. that seriously might not be a bad gig for Joe.

I could see him chatting with Linda Pellegrino every Monday morning about the Bills game the day before, cooking some sort of chicken salad when they have an executive chef pop in and do a lot of those interviews that help promote upcoming fundraisers and special community events.

Seriously. Channel 7’s upper management team (Bill Ransom, John DiSciullo, etc.) should think about it.

Or perhaps Joe would be interested in applying for this job:

    http://www.wkbw.com/about/careers/25696269.html

  39. Joe Mesi on Kevin Hardwick?

Last time he was on he couldn’t even give a full sentence on why he was running.

    This should be good.

    Joe Mesi Needs a Job!

  40. Uhhh, Splett, in case you hadn’t noticed, this country had an ACTOR as it’s president for 8 years. I don’t think Mesi’s campaign is a failing of this area, it’s just another case of Reagan/Ventura/Schwarzenneger.
