Giuliani – Just Dumber

Listening to mocking laughter by the hall when Giuliani mentioned that Obama was a “community organizer” made me physically ill.

The Republicans believe that it’s wrong for government to step in to solve community problems.

And evidently, they believe that it’s wrong for ordinary people to try and help community problems.

Then he takes a dig at Obama’s “present” votes, which are explained here. Giuliani explains that as Mayor of New York, he couldn’t vote “present”.

No shit, asshole. You don’t vote as Mayor.

Then he goes on to say Obama never led people in crisis. Then what the f*ck was he doing as a community organizer? Disingenuous mouth-breather. Interesting, given McCain’s call to a “cause greater than one’s self”. That’s what Obama did. And they just mocked it.

9/11!@$!$@

UPDATE: Reax all over the place seem to echo my contemporaneous shock. Sullivan writes:

The one moment that stays with me tonight, oddly enough, was not Palin’s speech. It was a line from Giuliani, a New York mayor with a young second third wife and gay friends, mocking a “cosmopolitan” who was brought up by a single mother. It was that Barack Obama’s rise could “only happen in America.” And it was designed to mock him, the first African-American candidate for the presidency of the United States.

Community organizer. Impressive. I wonder how many casinos he’s ever closed.

The Dem ticket is upside down. The emperor is butt naked. His list of accomplishments make even our assembly delegation look good.

This scenario described above is like the a-hole jocks who’d line up in the cafeteria and try to harass the girls and/or take out their latent homosexual urges on weaker kids in gym class. All they know is getting their way and instead of it making them any more compassionate it makes them meaner. This is why I am looking forward to dumbass hockeytwat mom and grandpa getting fucking rolled up and bitchslapped by the voters. Sorry for the plethora of foul language. plethora is such a pseudo word though…

All I know is, Sarah Palin isn’t any more qualified to be President or VP than she was yestreday.

Actually, her smugness may not have been as endearing as they might’ve hoped.

    She read a speech. Great.

I would bet the only thing she actually contributed to it was the pit bull joke—which, I might add, is not exactly new.

Can you believe she had the nerve to bring up the “Bridge to Nowhere” that she *refused*? It has been out for days that she kept the money anyway! I also enjoyed the wave of chuckles at her having sold that plane on Ebay—especially since EVERYBODY knew about this for days. Nothing like a collectively forced partisan chuckle!

    Reformer? WRONG!
    Earmark solicitor? BINGO!

I hope the Repubs enjoyed tonight, because in month they will be in a heap of hurt. Just wait until Obama unleashes a treasure trove of ads exploiting the numerous inconsistencies this woman brings to the stage.

  11. Starbuck says:

Speaking of being an important, talented, dedicated legislator and voting “present” a lot, is it true that Sen. Obama has found the time over the years to author two books about himself in 1995 and 2006, but he hasn’t authored any major legislation ever?

Not even in the Illinois state senate? In all those many years? That can’t be right, can it?

Some journalist should do the very difficult work of finding out if that’s true and if it is, then ask Sen. Obama why.

As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, Obama helped create legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds. During the 110th Congress, he helped create legislation regarding lobbying and electoral fraud.

He cannot, however, dress a mosse—or whatever the hell they chase up in the north pole.

I just heard an Obama supporter (Jeff) indicate it doesn’t matter if you can give a great speech.

And I also heard Keith Obermann just complain that Pailin was “sarcastic.”

And Pundit is so incensed, he can barely write a coherent thought, or keep from swearing.

Rich! Whatever the Republicans are doing, it must be working.

  18. Haterade says:

Jeff … nice use of wikipedia (word for word no less !) to list Obama’s grand accomplishments . Tell me more about his “legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds”.

  20. Jon Splett says:

You know what the best part of McCain picking Palin is?

Hillary dragging things out and tearing Obama down for months in the primary was suppose to be what killed his chances at the presidency.

Instead, when he doesn’t take her as the VP, the McCain camp tries to pander to the Hillary vote, selects maybe the most comically underqualified, anti-women’s rights creationist nutjob ever to grace a presidential ticket, and thus kills his own chances.

If Hillary drops out gracefully 6 months ago, this never happens, Liberman gets the VP nod and we’d be hearing about Obama as a secret muslim with a white hating pastor a month before the election instead of the beginning of summer.

Hillary Clinton may very well be the reason Obama gets elected president. Who saw that coming three weeks ago?

  21. Queen Carlotta says:

Furthermore Haterade… please leave special needs “Jeff” alone.

If only the young Palin daughter, the harlot, had been totally surronded by boys like Jeff. She wouldn’t be pregnant. She would be a lesbian!

Moreover, I’ve checked out a few of the profiles for the guys that post on this site. Why are the men on here so grossly overweight? Overweight and middle age is not sexy. Repeat, NOT sexy. Gym memberships are very affordable in the Buffalo area. Hint-hint.

ya think it’s gonna hurt having the vp candidate and the woman who got 18 million democratic votes in the primaries on tv every 15 minutes saying barack obama isn’t qualified to be the president of the united states?

I am very busy and cannot be bothered doing the leg work. Why don’t you be a good chap and look it up for us?
Wikipedia is not the NY Post. They’re pretty good about keeping out the nonsense.

So again, feel free to find that legislation that no doubt does exist.

Then please post it and apologize.

    Thank you.

*PS I do wonder why Obama would hook up with a guy who is on tape saying he’s not qualified, however there’s always a good way to spin EVERYTHING, so I’m sure they’ve come up with some decent controls for that one.

Love them or not, Obama/Biden are no dummies. THAT is definitely something the Republican’s should not lose sight of.

    **PPS — PREDICTION
    Obama/Biden 55%
    McCain/Palin 45%

And Biden makes Palin cry at the debate:)

  24. I was reacting to stuff that Giuliani was saying as he was saying them. So talk to Giuliani about the sequiturs, @dougk.

  25. Kevin Hardwick says:

It’s OK, though, to mock someone for being from a small town? This is, BTW, where Obama backers have really shot themselves. There’s a good chance that this election will be won in small towns in PA, OH and other battleground states. I gotta believe that voters in these small towns resent the way their towns have been characterized by Palin-haters.

  26. No one mocked her for being from a small town. We mocked the notion that being mayor of 9,000 (and collecting loads of federal earmark dollars in the process – REFORM!) was real strong evidence of Presidential “executive experience”.

I wouldn’t stick Byron Brown in as VP, and he run a city of almost 300,000 – that’s half the population of all of Alaska.

Its going to be a long road for Obama. I hope he gets more states than McGovern.

    From Tom Coburn’s (R-OK) website

This is in regard to your question to Jeff about “legislation to … promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds”.

It’s one of the reasons I considered voting for him very early on in this race, if he made it out of the primary.

  29. Kevin Hardwick says:

I don’t think folks in small town battleground America will make that distinction, Alan. If she were the Mayor of Chicago, nobody would’ve mocked anything.

  30. The Humanist says:

Kevin – no one from the Obama campaign has belittled or insulted her town…we’ve only seen the McCain campaign get in high dudgeon about (mostly) imaginary attacks on Palin personally and on the town she used to govern. When any campaign representative is asked (quite reasonably) what exactly Palin has accomplished in her terms as mayor or in her 20 months as governor that qualifies her to be a heartbeat away from the presidency, the campaign reacts as if the questioner asked if we could get a briefing on her last visit to the OB-GYN.

Why isn’t the McCain campaign making her available for press interviews? Just a scant few months ago, John McCain was bitching that the press were ignoring him…why the deep freeze now? Could it be that Sarah Palin is Not Ready For Prime Time?

And if we’re delving in the hypothetical effects of political sophistry, let’s not forget we were treated to an entire summer of McCain and the GOP choir belittling the following about Obama:

    - his work as a community organizer
    - his service in the Illinois State Senate
    - his service in the U.S. Senate
    - his accomplishment in becoming the first minority to become editor of the Harvard Law Review
    - his father
    - his stepfather
    - his wife
    - his pastor (hmmm…..not a peep from the media about Palin’s church, which hosted a “Jews for Jesus” nut, nor the radical separatist party her husband belonged to, which the leader once said “God damn America”)
    - his entry into politics (in which a fundraiser hosted at the home of a former Weather Underground member and a few boards they both served on turned into a Manchurian Candidate situation where Bill Ayers groomed young Obama to bomb banks and military offices to protest the Vietnam War??)

You know what’s laughable when I hear a GOP pundit say that Palin is more qualified than Obama? Did I miss the part where Palin won 18 million votes in 57 state and territory primaries and caucuses in one of the biggest upsets in U.S. political history? Was I sleeping when Palin participated in 20 debates in which she was queried intensely on the issues of the day?

  31. Snarkiest says:

@Humanist – The Obama campaign needs to get out of the echo chamber.

The idea that Obama is qualified to BE President because he is RUNNING for President is the most tortured circular logic I have ever heard.

Even better than “I am the chnage I’ve been waiting for!”

I want McCain-Palin – am I allowed to pick that change?

  32. The Humanist says:

    @Snarkiest

We can go back and forth all day on qualifications to run for higher office. I think Obama is qualified, you don’t. Fine. You may think Palin is qualified, I don’t. Fine.

But my point is that the McCain campaign is trying to blunt the very question of her qualifications. Scrutinizing one’s qualifications for higher office is an absolutely reasonable question and the McCain campaign screaming bloody murder that someone would raise it.

I’m not saying Obama’s sole qualification for his run is that he’s running. What I am saying is that we know a hell of a lot more about Obama – his positions on the issues of the day and his campaign experience, than we do about Gov. Palin.

    - which one has ran a 18 month campaign that has taken him to all 50 states and the territories, as well as visits to Europe and Iraq?
    - which one has earned 18 million votes in 57 primaries and caucuses?
    - which one has participated in 25 primary debates with opponents, covering a full year, in which the candidate’s views on a wide range of pressing issues were widely publicized?

In the 18 months that Obama has earned those 18 million votes and the support of a majority of eligible voters in presenting his vision, Gov. Palin was busy selling state property on eBay and plotting to get her ex-brother-in-law fired.

  33. hank says:

Palin sold her state’s corporate jet on eBay.
The Thruway Authority of NYS Bought the fucker.

Locked into a deep blue enclave in a state that’s only blue because of NYC and YOU, I think your visiage is somewhat blocked.

‘ades making a noise like a Republican. Then again, Palin was a union member, and her husband IS a union member. Obama has been endorsed by unions, but work is something he knows nothing about–he’s never done any. At least none that didn’t help him personally.

All that work in the Ill. Senate..Voting “PRESENT”. Shades of Byron Brown and Antoine Thompson–perhaps THEY’ll run in 2012. Just as Qualified.

Never seen you lefties so scared before. But you do have your reasons.

November 08 won’t be much different than Nov 04. But the margin of republican victory will probably be higher.

  34. Starbuck says:

The great energetic dynamic legislator’s career legislative accomplishments over his years in the U.S. Senate and Illinois State Senate are these two items, says his advocate Jeff?

helped create legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds

helped create legislation regarding lobbying and electoral fraud

Incredible. Yes indeed, quite a reformer and agent of change. And the media isn’t pointing this out over and over again because……. why?

  35. Jeff says:

His ideas and education trump McCain and Palin.

    Trump by a wide margin.

Obama has been throguh much public scrutiny, as has Biden.

McCain and especially Palin, are about to see 9 weeks of every dirty detail emerge, and it’ll be a riot!

The Dems have been suspiciously quiet about the Keating 5 thing. I am expecting that to find it’s way into the ad blitz.
