Beware Hudson and his internet beer muscles.

  2. mike hudson says:

carnival strongman… quite apt, pundit. quite.

  3. Haterade says:

I think of him more like a bearded lady … or JoJo the Dog-Boy.

  4. mike hudson says:

ah burke, i knew i could count on you…

we’ll have to bend some iron bars together sometime!

CHRIS & KEITH ‘LEFT’ OUT AT MSNBC

September 8, 2008 (New York Post) — THERE’S been a coup against the leftists occupying MSNBC’s election anchor desk. Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann have been bumped by the Peacock Network, beginning with the upcoming presidential debates and continuing through election night, a spokeswoman said. David Gregory will be the new political anchor, while Matthews and Olbermann will return to their nightly shows, “Hardball” and “Countdown,” respectively.

  6. mike says:

Strong man, its more like milk toast. A buffalo sex scandal, which would be fine, but it coming from a guy who gets lost once he crosses Sheridan Drive is kind of pointless. Then a story about some crybaby Mulunyan’s, how theres not enough of them on the city payroll. For your information mike you have to pass a test and get on the list for those jobs. Unless your last name is Chef, ssssh i forgot he’s your pal. Go to lockport hudson take on Sloma, Ferraro, and Ross. Naaa its so easy to write about sex and Tootsoon’s

  7. mike hudson says:

    nice work david.

  8. Ward says:

Not to go off-topic and onto the primary, but the Volker call tonight came from Caller Id listed as Civil Service Employees Assn. Go figure.

  9. Jon Splett says:

I saw a SMOKING hot girl in a Hoyt t shirt walking down Hertel today carrying a clipboard.

It’s good to see Hoyt has some future prospects waiting in the wings for his next sex scandal.

  10. mike hudson says:

the most striking thing about this primary to me has been that every candidate in the races i’ve covered has gone negative or had their people do it for them, and they’ve all complained about the other candidates’ going negative. this always happens to some degree, but it’s been the main theme in this election.

everyone talks about how bad attack ads and smear campaigns are, and yet they work, perhaps more here on the niagara frontier than elsewhere.

there are no heroes to vote for tomorrow.

  11. Haterade aka John Burke says:

I was surprised to see no mention here of the -and I use the term loosely- “hate crime” of putting a “whites only” sign on a water fountain. Was it a stupid thing to do ? For sure. Was it deserving of a felony “hate crime” charge … IMO no. Hudson’s guest writer bemoaned the 500 dollar bail. Newsflash Rebekah … bail is only to ensure the accused will show at the next court date … not to be used as some sort of gauge of seriousness, or a punishment. I could go over the news from the last month and find many more serious crimes than a sign that should qualify for such “hate crime” status – but are often labled a “crime of opportunity” instead.

  12. mike hudson says:

don’t entirely disagree with you burke, but if you read the cover story you’d see that minority workers in the city have been subjected to an ongoing stream of abuses like this for many years — this isn’t an isolated incident. 10 percent or fewer of the city workers are black — depending on if you count part-time, “seasonal” employees etc. — in a city where upwards of 40 percent of the population is black.

there are no black firefighters, two or three police officers and maybe 50, mostly doing labor-type jobs, in all the other city departments combined.

unfortunately for him, the asshole who put up the sign — and confessed to it — is going to pay a stiff price for what is in fact an ongoing pattern of institutional racism by the city of niagara falls.

and unfortunately for the taxpayers, the city is going to have to pay out a hefty chunk of the $36 million they’re currently being sued for by the niagara falls six.

and all the “couldn’t pass the tests” bullshit in the world can’t change what even stevie wonder could see.

  13. Haterade says:

Why is not passing a test “bullshit” ?

  14. Haterade says:

Not to mention , what does the sign have to do with the NF6 ? Should the guy who put up the sign be punished for the “ongoing pattern of institutional racism by the city of niagara falls.” ? These are two seperate cases and should be dealt with accordingly. Certainly the NF6 will use this in their civil suit – and so be it – but posting that sign was the act of an individual. You can’t hold him responsible for anything other than one stupid sign.

  15. mike hudson says:

because they don’t get the jobs even when they do pass the tests. i’ve seen the documents, written quite a lot about them over the past five years, and if the city’s stupid enough to take this case to court you can read about it in the buffalo news.

the majority of the blacks currently working for the city are long-timers, hired when joe profit was director of the dpw and the feds came in here because of discriminatory hiring practices the last time.

believe me, andrew coumo and the u.s. justice dept. are not getting involved in this because one moron pasted one sign over one drinking fountain one day.

  16. mike hudson says:

again, i don’t disagree burke. but that moron’s looking at seven years in club fed.

the discrimination, particularly in the dpw, has been in the nes since the six filed their suit almost six years ago. he had to know he was becoming a part of that. like i said, the funny thing is that — to them — this was no super huge deal. they’ve come in to work to find nooses hung in front of their lockers.

  17. mike hudson says:

how many cats you got alan? i’ve only got the one but the redhead keeps four and walking to the bathroom in the dark at night is always an adventure.

  18. Jeff says:

Good to see Olbermann and Mattehws pulled from debate coverage.

Sends the messge that unlike Fake News, I mean Fox News, the dreaded MSM (mainstream media in Limbaugh circles) is actually preoccupied with being objective.

Perfect set up for NBC newsguys to rip Palin when she falls on her face.

  19. Jeff says:

    Menat to include:

Don’t worry about Palin. When she does fall on her face, she will no-doubt have her foot in her mouth to act as a bumper.

I do wonder if the GOP is trying to come up with an excuse to have someone standing next to her during the debate to whisper things in her ear.

  20. mike hudson says:

she’ll kill biden in the debate. people like her and, as his dismal record as a presidential wannabe since 1988 proves, people don’t like him. he was an uninspired pick, and has become the invisible man in the past week or so. the obamamaniacs seem to be laboring under the misapprehension that their man is running against sarah palin.

  21. Mike Walsh says:

I’ll give Hudson this..he had the balls to give the names in the Hoyt scandal….

Any middle aged man that cheats on his wife with girls my daughter’s age, can’t be trusted for anything….

    Think about that…..

  22. Dave A. says:

I don’t know enough about Palin to judge her – but she’s got charisma, and people seem inclined to like her personally, if not politically.

That being said, I saw Biden on Meet the Press, and he came across very well. He spoke eloquently and at length about Iraq, abortion and lobbying. He knows his shit, and he won’t lose any debates on points.

This could be the year the VP debates outdraw the main event.

  23. mike hudson says:

they always ask him about foreign policy as that is his forte. i doubt that he’d do as well if they asked him how much a loaf of bread was at the grocery store.

  24. Dave A. says:

You’re right, but foreign policy/national security and abortion are going to be two of the top issues this election.

  25. Jeff says:

If you actually SAW Meet the Press, you would know that Brokaw tried to corner him on what appeared to be conflict of interest issues regarding the banking industry and his son—tied in with his voting history.

Biden smoothly and explicitly explained it all away with ease. Brokaw kept pushing, yet Biden tied it all up with a neat bow on top.

Anyone who thinks Backwater Bonnie is going to WOW everyone at a debate with this guy, should think more with their big head instead of the other way around.

There is so little to go on when touting this woman’s experience and *know-how* that you can only explain her popularity as being FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS.

Huson et al just need a cold shower. McCain needs a running mate who can actually run the country.

Like Obama or not, call him experienced or not, he certainly has well thought out opinions and stances on a vasty array of areas and issues.

Backwater Bonnie appeals to the holy rollers and the dimwits who cling to their guns and religion. Obama spoke the truth. Idiots just cannot take it.

    Oh yeah, and she’s cute.

Great. Stick her ass in some *Mom* jeans and let her go dress a moose, ’cause that’s all she’s cut out to do.

Anyone who paints her as this mythical reformer is a fool and is being used by those who corral fools best.

  26. mike hudson says:

@ dave a. will abortion overshawdow the economy? our dependence on oil from volitile places like venezuala and the middle east? health care? besides, bush & cheney, bush & quayle and reagan-bush all paid lip service to the “rights of the unborn” and it didn’t hurt them any. with a democratic congress, abortion is, if you’ll forgive me, a dead issue.

@ jeff…biden’s a professional pol. it is unsurprising that he weaseled his way around an enabler like brokaw. greatest generation my ass! the nomination of obama should tell you that people are sick of slick politicians this year. mccain had the advantage of picking last. had obama picked another “outsider,” he almost certainly would have gone for lieberman. but obama picked a guy who’s been in the senate since 1973.

one could mention that, also in 1973, mccain was being tortured as a prisoner at the hanoi hilton. he didn’t make it to the senate until 1986.

i’m sure that if he needs your advice on how to run his campaign, jeff, mccain will give you a call. maybe you didn’t see the polls today. they’ve all got him up by as much as 10 points nationally, winning ohio by 7, virginia by 2 and cutting deeply into obama’s formerly commanding leads in places like pennsylvania, michigan and colorado.

his pick of sarah palin is responsible for that, and even though you don’t appear to be worried, the obama campaign is scared stiff.

so much for the “50-state strategy.”

  27. Jeff says:

Polls at this point are meaningless.

And I’m so tired of hearing about McCain’s torture.

    Talk about reverse PC.

God forbid you mention that McCain’s POW experience is COMPLETELY FUCKING IRRELEVANT as to his ability to run this country.

Of course, when dressing a moose means you’re qualified, you soon realize who the Repubs are catering to with this gimmicky ticket.

The party of anti-intellectuals celebrates a guy who graduated 5th from last in a class of 899 at Annapolis. His running mate got (get ready) a COMMUNICATIUONS degree from Idaho U.

    Nice.

No wonder idiots love these 2 so much!

  28. mike says:

Hudson you dipstick, the test passing was for the POlice and firemen, not poopchute city workers. And anyway its all modern’s fault, since they took over the garbage pickup that ended the largest black work force. If we used your theory, why isnt your paper, the casino, tops market downtown have 70 percent black workers?

  29. mike says:

Hudson the population of niagara falls is unemployable, why else would the mayor have to import his new hire of color all the way from baltimore? You can’t even get a shoe shine in the falls anymore, so tell us more facts about things being so unfair.

  30. “Not to go off-topic and onto the primary, but the Volker call tonight came from Caller Id listed as Civil Service Employees Assn. Go figure.”

Volker was endorsed by CSEA for his “100% pro-labor voting record.”

It’s a big secret–can’t find any evidence of it other than a mailing to their members.

But, alas, poor Yorick, we posted the damn thing.

    http://blog.jimostrowski.com/?p=1128

    {I quote Shakespeare when I’m sleep-deprived.)

  31. mike hudson says:

with people such as mutt & jeff, uh, mike & jeff passing themselves off as grown up voters it is little wonder the niagara frontier, new york state and the united states of america are in such dire straights.

you’re wrong about the tests mike, you have absolutely no fucking idea what you’re talking about. i’ll leave it as that.

and jeff, it wasn’t long ago that you were calling people who had the temerity to suggest that the only reason the junior senator from illinois was nominated was because he was black racists. now there’s a woman in the contest and you say the only reason she was nominated is because she is a woman.

    that’s chutzpah!

with 50-odd days to go before the election, the constant dirge of “the polls don’t matter” sounds more and more like whistling past the graveyard. as goes ohio, new york and pennsylvania goes the election.

    so good luck with that.

  32. mike says:

mike, explain why in a city thats 70 percent black, you don’t have any working for your paper?

  33. mike hudson says:

the city is 40 percent black, you nitwit.

there is exactly one fulltime writer at the paper, me. i don’t happen to be black, though over the years a number of my readers have mistakenly assumed that i am.

bill bradberry was a regular writer for the paper for years before he became city administrator, he’s now writing for the gazette but i met with him last week to see whether i could get him back. we’ve also had quite a large number of african-american writers as guest columnists.

certainly though mike, even you couldn’t be stupid enough to make a comparison between a small, private business with four full-time employees and the city, which is funded by taxpayers black and white, and which employs 550 people.

only a moron would make such a comparison.

  34. mike hudson says:

i mean a moron or disgruntled white ex-employee.

  35. mike hudson says:

it occurs to me, “mike” that you must’ve spent the entire 70s as well as the late 60s either in infancy or in prison somewhere. there was this big thing called the “civil rights movement,” you see, and public institutions — that is those dependent on state, federal and local tax dollars were found to be in a different category entirely than private business. this isn’t my “theory” as you put it, it is the law. this applies to public schools and universities as well as to institutions such as the niagara falls fire department.

i suggest you go take a remedial course somewhere to bone up on all the american history you appear so woefully ignorant of.

  36. mike says:

Mike, i am just saying, most of the blacks in niagara falls are not employable. Look at the casino, after background checks, poly’s, and drug test they FAIL. Hell you would FAIL, but if you parked cars you wouldnt be stealing change from the cars. Now go get your shine box!

  37. Queen Carlotta says:

Wow… the crazies come out in full force.

  38. mike hudson says:

that’s funny, because the guy who said “now go get your shine box” in the movie ended up dead about 20 minutes later, you racist bastard.

  39. Dave A. says:

mike h., I didn’t say abortion was going to be the top issue, but only one if them. Seems to me that both sides have dug their heels in on each side of the debate, and are intent in making it a major campaign point. It’s still a litmus test for a lot of voters.

By all means, the economy is goign to be the 500-pound gorilla of the campaign, but other issues will be important too.
