Chris Lee – Accessibility Personified

Evidently, any media outlet that may have the unmitigated gall and audacity to write negative things about Chris Lee, Republican candidate for Congress from NY-26 will be shut out and any media requests will be continually and perpetually denied.

That’s accessibility you can believe in.

Just because you doorknobs have the word media in the title of your “group”, doesn’t qualify you as a bonafide press organization.

True media reports news, not create it.

  2. Do you know what “media” means? Evidently not.

Also, the Buffalo News endorsed Kryzan and reported on Lee’s defrauding of his former employer and subsequent firing for same. Yet Lee’s campaign has not, AFAIK, shut out the Buffalo News. Or maybe it has.

But I do know that this was an effort to report news that became news itself because Lee’s campaign doesn’t like to answer tough questions. But thanks for reading so regularly!

  3. Wayne's World Party Time says:

Nick Langworthy is getting a bad rap, he is still trying to recover from finishing 542 out of 580 in the Moonlight run 5K.

  4. Ghost of Ellis says:

It appears you have verified my claim. Real news groups get the ability and access to ask tough questions. I didn’t see Channel 2 or 4 get shutout from asking questions. Just the flunky from WNYMedia whining like a baby.

I am sure that if your group even gave a remote scent of journalistic integrity, you would get many more interviews. Almost single-handedly you have demonstrated that you aren’t interested in providing solid news coverage. You might as well advertise that you are a direct source of phony video for democratic candidates.

Evidently, you realize what “medium” and “media” mean. May I commend you on that.

No, you didn’t see Channel 2 or Channel 4 shut out from asking questions. Just us. You think it’s ok, and you hide behind a sock puppet and therefore your opinion is rather meaningless.

I’m not a news source. I’m a commentator. WNYMedia.net, however, does report news, and has interviewed many local politicians – Republicans, Democrats, and even Greens.

But because you’re a Republican shill, I doubt you’ll bother to look into it. But thanks again for reading my site so regularly!

  6. Hank Paulson says:

Nick Langworthy and Chris Lee (as well as Delano) are simply doing the same thing Grant Loomis and Chris Collins did in 2007; very, very carefully control and limit access to the candidate to media and keep everything scripted and carefully controlled. They only put the candidate out for comment when they can completely control the message. Don’t take my word for it – Loomis bragged about doing this to the Buffalo chapter of the Public Relations Society of America at a meeting in early 2008 after Collins took office.

  7. Marc Odien says:

    Funny you say that Hank…

We actually had a lot of access to Mr. Collins in his run up to the election last year.

Even after the election, Mr. Collins made himself avialable to us with conference calls and other events.

Its only been, recent month’s, well, since his budget came out, that Collins people have suddenly knocked us off their advisory list.

as for Ellis, well… get a clue pal…your ignorance is getting the best of you.

Ask Mr. Lee why he sneaked out at yesterday’s event at Classics 5 and avoided the TV camera’s, Channel 2 in particular, from asking him questions about yesterday’s news article.

  8. Ghost of Ellis says:

Apparently my opinion is extremely meaningful otherwise you wouldn’t waste the time trying to defend yourself(if that’s what you call it).

When you post video like this on your site first, rather than run it on some other “news” site, and then try to call it reporting news, you continue to make a mockery of your group.

By the way, call me whatever you want. Curtis Ellis would be proud of you.

  9. No, I’m just bored watching Dora with my 2 year old right now. I didn’t post the video on my site first, it was first posted to WNYMedia.net’s Mogulus stream, and I pulled it. You make a mockery of the internet. And your name’s not Curtis Ellis.

  10. Mike In WNY says:

I’ve seen very good reporting from WNYMEDIA, however, many of the associated blogs have the appearance of being very partisan. That association probably affects accessibility.

  11. Joe Genco says:

Langworthy was doing his job. Criticize him if you like, but exposing his candidate to fringe media is a no-win proposition. The same goes for not letting a TV station with a need for ratings have free access to 10-seconds it can loop again and again to destroy a campaign in which the Republican National Committee has heavily invested. Put yourself in Langworthy’s shoes — you’d have blisters by now, too, and would protect your candidate the same way.

  12. Make no mistake, Mike – I am very partisan. Of course, WNYMedia.net also hosts Rus Thompson, so we can credibly claim that all opinions are welcome.

Ghost of Ellis is a frustrated wannabe.

  13. Ghost of Ellis says:

Mike – you are quickly earning some credibility with me. Too bad you have been maligned by associating with worms like BP.

I think you are frustrated because you can’t handle being called out on your own blog. I am not Curtis and didn’t say I was.

And I am definitely not a wannabe. I have forgotten more than you will ever know about politics.

  14. Haterade aka John Burke says:

That’s almost as bad as kicking someone off your campaign plane because they endorsed your oppone … wait – that was just a coincidence ….

  15. Ghost, your voluminous knowledge must explain why you use a sock puppet. I get called out on this site day in, day out by better than you. If I couldn’t “take it”, I’d just delete it. Instead I let you spout idiocies and insults all you want.

And my insignificant worm-ism must be why you’re still reading, commenting, and engaging me.

    I love my biggest fans!

  16. Adam K. says:

Chris Collins held 2 press conferences last year – one to announce he was running, one to announce he’d work for a buck.

Chris Lee, as best as I can tell, currently is beating that by 1.

  17. Penny A says:

I went looking for information on Chris Lee. I have only heard negatives by both candidates. I am a Republican – but I am very concerned by the negative ads by both Chris Lee and Alice Kryzan. I am a little disturbed by your video – and the way that Chris Lee wouldn’t let this media any access. I am also concerned about the story that Obama kicked members of the press of his plane – because of the perception of bias…
I’m concerned when candidates only let “friends” ask questions.

  18. Know it all says:

Obama’s removal of reporters from 3 minor publications had to do with space on the aircraft. If bias were the reason Fox would have been thrown off long ago. More Rush bullshit.

  19. Terry says:

It’s always a mystery to me why these people think that they have a God given right to access…..where is that written?

  20. Bouldin says:

Hey BP, great post. Here’s the larger issue behind Rs refusing to debate: they know their ideas are unpopular and widely discredited, and as yet, they don’t have the stones to admit that they’re wrong on everything. So what do they do? They avoid public presentations of their twisted, wrong, and un-American ideas. And as your comment section shows, their little trolls hate being called on it.

  21. The Wizard says:

Langworthy must be doing something right cause Lee is lookin like the favorite 24 hours out.

  22. hank says:

Obama’s removal of reporters from 3 minor publications had to do with space on the aircraft.

The New York Post, The Washington Times, and the Dallas Morning News would be QUITE surprised that the all-knowing folks in Western New York, home of one of the shittiest papers in the country, consider them
    MINOR publications.

And of course it’s merely a co-incidence that all 3 of those papers endorsed John McCain for President.

It’s also a co-incidence that those 3 seats were given to JET and ESSENCE Magazine–mags that white folks flock to the newstand for each issue—NOT—-and one for Maureen Dowd of the NYT, who can’t get on the left side of Lenin.

Know-it-all? How about “don’t know SHIT.”

  23. Martin Van Buren says:

Its funny that they claim that Lee wont talk to the “Media”. Some jerkoff with a camera doesn’t equal credible media. Get over yourself and your little hobby here.

You all bash Joe Illuzzi, he has real connections and real people in both parties that talk to him. He breaks real stories, not this nickle and dime bullshit.

  24. Chris O'Brien says:

While I understand that people sometimes want anonymity for their posts, i also question why everyone doesn’t simply use his or her real name in commenting on this site…seems to me if you want people to value your opinions more highly, then you wouldn’t hide behind an internet nom de plume…

If you truly have something meaningful to say, why not let everyone know who is saying it?

  25. MVB = Chris Lee troll… only posts negative things about Kryzan. Which is why he wont leave his name…

Seems our little “hobby” has pissed you off enough to leave alot of ridiculous comments lately, so we must be doing something right.

Thanks for playing Martin Van Troll

  26. brian says:

I like how that D-Bag you endorsed, Powers, causes all of these problems with the Working Families Party line and then gets out of dodge when the s*hit hits the fan. Very strong character guy.

  27. The Wizard says:

brian – go back to making phone calls for Alice. Get out that vote!!

  28. WNYPMH says:

Illuzzi is a freaking extortionist, not a reporter. “Pay to play” is not reporting.

  29. Russell says:

Coinciedentally, there was recently an article in The Economist discussing why the process of picking a president in America is a good practise in democracy, perhaps the most democratic process of any country. But beyond that, the author, in discussing some of the criticisms of the process, points out:

“The candidates spend too much time repeating their stump speeches and not enough wrestling with tough questions (the Obama campaign’s aloof way with the press is particularly inauspicious). ”

So it appears Mr Lee is not the only one with accessibility issues and dodging the tough questions. Yes, it is a foreign media outlet, but I know how so many of you Obama backers are greatly concerned with our country’s and our president’s image abroad. I also see it as a less-biased, third party opinion on the subject.

I know. I know. There’s always a reason why the world should be outraged over what a Republican has done, but should give a pass to a Democrat being accused of the same actions, but there you go. Sounds like the problems may be over more than just a few seats on a plane. Perhaps you should be more concerned with a presidential candidate avoiding tough questions, than a congressional one, but maybe that’s just me.

  30. InTheLoop says:

Langworthy…chubby, smug fuck. I dare that putz to venture out of the home run district he resides in. Total fucking hack.

  31. Know it all says:

    Hank,
Like most Republics, you make crap up as you go along. Please give the source of your lies. I want the Dems to start acting like the Republic scumbags. Lie, lie, lie til it is used as fact.
By the way, Chris Lee is just one more slimey Republic. Can’t wait for his girlfriend to appear.

  32. Chris Smith says:

Personally, I’ve always felt that a blog network like this has more in common with WBEN than a traditional broadcast or print journalism outlet. After all, 90% of the content on WBEN is opinion and commentary, yet Democrats still talk to the few reporters they have on staff. Most of the time, their comments end up as fodder for one sided partisan commentators like Bauerle, Beach, or Dobson.

Marc Odien has won awards for his reporting when he worked for WGRZ and other stations in the south. Barbara Burns has won awards for her work on the radio. Alan and I comment on what Marc provides just as Bauerle and Beach comment on what Barbara provides.

Ugh, hopefully, that’s the last time I ever draw a comparison between us and Beach.

  33. The Wizard says:

InTheLoop: Your boss is going to lose tomorrow. Bye Alice!

  34. The Wizard says:

Langworthy is a decent fellow. He’s just doing his job.

  35. The Wizard Jr says:

    Well said Wizard.

@ Brian – “I like how that D-Bag you endorsed, Powers, causes all of these problems with the Working Families Party line and then gets out of dodge when the s*hit hits the fan. Very strong character guy.” That could be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen posted on BP and that says a lot since BP lets Rytlewski post.

First of all, Powers caused all the problems on the WFP?????? They endorsed him. Just because Alice couldn’t get the endorsement isn’t Powers’ fault. Second, “when the shit hits the fan, he left dodge?????? Didn’t he leave dodge in an attempt to get Alice the line?????

Your own argument in inherently flawed and you were, unfortunately, too stupid to realize it before you hit submit…

  36. Haterade aka John Burke says:

***”Know it all :Like most Republics, you make crap up as you go along. Please give the source of your lies. I want the Dems to start acting like the Republic scumbags. Lie, lie, lie til it is used as fact.”****

    Okay :http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/Story?id=6156794&page=2

There are plenty of other links, but I gave you one that you wouldn’t complain about being biased. It’s true … and those are hardly “minor” papers. It really doesn’t mean anything at this point – I just wanted you to have a little reality check.

  37. Chris Smith says:

I find Nick’s refusal to talk to websites funny since they were willing to chat with Mike Morgulis over at The Buffalo Bean.

    http://thebuffalobean.com/2008/10/31/ny-26-five-questions-with-chris-lee/

Probably because that guy has his nose up Lee’s asshole.

  38. @Haterade. You’re right kicking reporters from three regional papers off a crowded campaign plane is some of the most outrageous, egregious behavior ever.

Dallas Morning News Editor Bob Mong told FOXNews.com that the “indication” from the Obama campaign was that they were kicked off the plane since they don’t represent a national outlet and they don’t represent a swing state.

“We argued that [considering] the size of the Morning News and stature, we obviously would want to be on board,” Mong said. “We’re obviously not happy about it, and continue to protest.”

He said, in fairness, that the McCain campaign recently pulled Morning News staff off the Republican’s plane when space became an issue — but he said the Morning News would be back on McCain’s plane again this weekend.

Obama is not the only candidate to play hardball with the press. McCain’s campaign has reportedly barred Time columnist Joe Klein and New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, who have been critical of the Republican candidate, from the Republican candidate’s plane.

Time and the New York Times – they have a national reach. The “Dallas Morning News” does not.

  39. Russell says:

BP, how very typical. First you post how evil the Republicans are for doing something. Then someone raises the point that Obama did the same thing or worse. Everyone denies it ’til solid evidence is presented and then you folks follow it up with saying McCain did it too.

No one said McCain didn’t do, but many did say Obama did not. Sounds like you’re admitting it now. Obama is the one that’s claimed he’s different. He’s the one that’s supposed to be held to a higher standard, even though he hasn’t met some of the lowest. That’s fine if you want to play this new spin on the childish game of “I know you are but what am I?”, but it’s clear that Obama is no different than Lee or McCain or any other politician. Even foreign media have pointed that out.

Actually, I posted nothing about McCain or Obama kicking anybody off either plane. Also, could you please find where the three papers in question attributed their explulsion to their endorsement? I know FOx News and Drudge did, but my understanding is that the papers themselves did not. Thanks so much in advance for your concern, though.

Your concern is duly noted. Thank you.

  41. Russell says:

    You’re welcome on both counts.

  42. Haterade aka John Burke says:

Don’t be such a goddam drama queen BP … leave that to the Humorist.I never said it was outreageous or egregious – just a bit telling.

Anyway, I responded to “know-it-all” who said it was all “lies” and wanted proof. There it is.

Even you, Alan , as blinded as you are by Obama-love – has to admit it is a bit of a coincidence…. then as Russel pointed out your defense is to say McCain did it too.

  43. hank says:

‘Ade—You’re running up a hell of a credit on the bar tab. It’s scary but we seem to be agreeing a lot more these days than not.

If THE ONE become POTUS, we’ll see if we’re all better off 4 years from now than we are today. After BP gets his first tax bill, I’m sure he’ll dance butt-ball naked in the streets of Clarence, pleased to be doing his patriotic duty by paying twice the amount of tax that he did before.

KNOW IT ALL–You STILL don’t know shit, do ya?

  44. Under Obama’s plan, I pay $1,800 less in taxes. Under McCain’s plan, I pay $200 less in taxes. If taxation was my single issue, I’d be voting for Obama. KTHXBAI.

  45. mike says:

hank, barry needs his shoes shined, get to work!!

  46. WNYPMH says:

Under Chris Lee’s plan, you’ll not even be allowed to regulate your own children and each member of the community will be responsible to create jobs. And when you don’t like something, you are encouragd to hack into the computer and change it.
