Palin Pardons a Turkey

But she did it at an abattoir, in front of a guy killing turkeys. MSNBC had some fun with the chyron:

UPDATE: I didn’t realize it was during Countdown, so that explains the captioning fun.

Sounds like a true death row pardon.

  2. Jeff says:

Maybe I haven’t spent enough time on the farm(!), but what the hell are they blurring out? I’m assuming they chopped the heads off and then put the turkey in that funnel thing to bleed it…but why the peridoic vertical blurring-out?

Any turkey executioners care to elaborate?

My guess – the death spasms of Tom the Turkey.

Gotta love the carny geek staring at camera with a shit-eating grin while going about his job.

I knew what was gonna happen as soon as I saw the first shot. We used to tie the legs so that the bird couldn’t use its claws to gain purchase on the sheetmetal chute. The bird is stuffed headfirst down the funnel and when the head pokes out the bottom, the head is pulled down hard to break the neck. A well-designed tool is poked through the neck to bleed the bird out or the head is clipped completely off. I’ve seen it done with turtles, also.

One thing not mentioned in the video or any of the reports is that bird farms are a filthy environment in which to work. Turkeys are the stump-stupidest animals on Earth. Chickens are barely better.

from a PR standpoint, one might give Palin the benefit of the doubt… but seriously, she might consider her surroundings a bit more before she goes on interviews that millions will end up watching

    Nice assessment.

Democrats are in love with Palin.

As long as she is the face of the GOP, Dems will be in the driver’s seat for years to come.

    “That woman is a dummy!”

I love the fact the just the meer utterance of the word, “Palin” gives people angina. I think she’ll inherit the boogeyman tag once Cheney leaves office.

    Eveyone needs a villain…

I was born and raised in Buffalo before moving because the economy and job prospects suck! I also used to live in Alaska…Sarah Palin is a GREAT governor who knows how to run a damn state, unlike the long string of mess-ups we have had here in NY. Just because she “sounds funny” , holds to her conservative values, or does something people are not used to (hunt Moose) she is a backwards hick or labeled “dumb”. I find it appalling that people are quick to judge her based off of their east coast elitist attitudes. If you have ever spent time in Alaska you will realize that she is rooted in the ways of the people there. Native Alaskans and non-Native Alaskans live a different life than the rest of the US. To those that call her a dummy or enjoy her as the “face” of the Republican party…enjoy your little tea party for now…you see in 2010 and 2012 America will once again shift closer towards the right when they see how the policies and workings of the Democratic party do nothing for the Average Joe or like Gov. Palin would say “Joe Six-Pack”. The Dems control ALL of the cards right now so it is do or die for them and I see them busting…God I am going to hate waiting 3 hours for a doctor visit under Universal Health Care at the “clinic”. Oh well back to work so I can help “spread the wealth” to the people who are “behind” me according to the President-elect…

  10. Nobody says:

I mean NOBODY watches MSNBC…I mean they’re up their with PBS and college tv stations with ratings…they have Olbermann (he sucks!!!) and Hardon with Chris Matthew (tingly feeling in his leg for Obama), and Rachel Madcow (rather pull my fingernails out with needlenose pliers than watch her)…it is no wonder why THEY SUCK!!!
