Jack Davis Finds New Ways to Suck

And (maybe) break the law.

Try this on for size: a radio ad done to the tune of Brooks & Dunn’s “Brand New Man”. Nothing like a little copyright violation to kick off your campaign. Oh, and it just plain old sucks.

Well, we’ve seen the light, and it’s high time, That we send a new man down to Congress this time, Jack Davis will take a stand…and be that brand new man!

Western New York is talkin’ ‘bout those lines they’ve been crossin’ down in Washington They doin’ too much harm…to our jobs and farms!

Jack will clean up the scandals, and he knows how to handle all the challenges that he’ll face, And he’s got the backbone, to vote our soldiers home!

Well, we’ve seen the light, and it’s high time, That we send our own man down to Congress this time, And Jack Davis will take a stand…he’s our next Congressman!

Brand New Man?! I’ll bet Brooks & Dunn’s lawyers would love to have a word with Mr. Davis.

I heard one set to The Foundations’ “Build Me Buttercup”, but how do you know he didn’t pay any copyright fees?

  2. Merr says:

I heard the “Buttercup” commercial this morning and it is terrible.

BP, is “wild guess” a sarcastic response and you have inside info? I know nothing about the people working on the Davis campaign, but if they are any type of professional, they would have to know they have to get permission and pay royalties, right?

  3. I didn’t mean it sarcastically. I really meant I was making a wild guess that Davis and his people would not have the forethought to get the rights to use someone else’s copyrighted material in a radio ad campaign. We’ll call and find out.

  4. Chris Smith says:

I called the Jack Davis campaign for comment with no response.

  5. EMS says:

Yup, nothing like using a 17 year old song to show how up-to-date and hip your campaign is. What’s the matter? Garth Brooks’ “The Thunder Rolls” was already taken?

Jack Davis is Montgomery Burns without the warmth.

  6. jackass says:

Well, Chris Smith is lying. Typical…

  7. jackson smiles says:

    BP – don’t call Davis for congress – call B & D’s lawyers.

I’m sure some one can get them to comment.

    ROFLMAO

  9. Chris Smith says:

I placed a call today to the Jack Davis campaign on Alan’s request and identified myself as Chris Smith from WNYMedia. I asked to speak with someone who could speak to the content of their TV and Radio commercials. I was told that the person with whom I could speak was not available and they would call me back and they had no comment. Still waiting for that callback, until then, the “no comment” from their campaign office stands.

Someone please get this guy hooked on fishing so he gets a new hobby.

  11. jackson smiles says:

Mr. Smith thanks for phoning in. No suprise there is “no comment” – they’re busy trying to find out where to buy the rights… Davis may have to sell some oil stock to buy the rights.

If he does produce them… check the dates on the contract!!

  12. Jon Splett says:

I think Jack Davis should use this opportunity to make copyright reform his number one issue.

  13. steve says:

Was there really a “Build Me Up, Buttercup” ad?

What, “Incense and Peppermints” was already taken?

  14. Jackson Smiles says:

Darth Vader’s theme from Star Wars was already taken!
