So, Mickey Kearns wants to go up against Byron Brown this year. That’s the worst-kept secret in the world.
Here’s what I wrote about Byron Brown almost four years ago, after endorsing Kevin Helfer for Mayor:
This region – and especially the City of Buffalo – have suffered through decades of decline and depression. I bear no ill will or hatred to this City, and only want it to thrive. I don’t believe that it will do so under a Brown Administration – instead, I fear more of the same.
Has the Brown Administration been more of the same? It’s certainly one of the most blatantly and aggressively political outfits in recent local memory – its aggression outweighed only by its electoral failure. I find it more reactive than proactive. There’s no SmartCode yet, no overhaul of doing-business-in processes. We still argue over the same picayune crap we argued about 5 years ago. Brown has become a sartorially superior version of Tony Masiello – good enough is just enough.
Although I disagree with Kearns on Route 5, I hope he makes a run of this, and I hope he matches the vicious aggression he’ll face at the hands of Pigeon and Casey with aplomb.

That’s like the Bills getting Rob Johnson to replace Todd Collins, or
Like them getting Brad Butler to replace Tutan Reyas.
Like Amherst getting Tom Reynolds to replace Bill Paxon
Or them Satish Mohan to replace Susan Grelick
Like NBC swapping out “The Single Guy” for “Caroline in the City”
Or them swapping out 2008 “Knight Rider” for 2009 “Knight Rider”
What I’m saying is that tKearns really doesn’t impress me.
Hey, if too many people weigh in at the same time, it may crash the server. I realize that this may be the signature political campaign of 2009 in WNY, but please go easy on the Submit button, nkay?
I still haven’t heard about Ron Moss’ plans (http://www.ronmoss.org/).
Kearn’s work on the basics, abandoned, neglected housing and slumlord abuses will be readily and happily embraced here in the Heights.
I keep wondering if Answer Lady has actually been to South Buffalo and whether or not her comment was loaded with hard to detect sarcasm.
If anyone writing a new illustrated dictionary needs a picture to go along with the phrase “excruciatingly awkward” I am thinking the above shot of the usual suspects is a shoo-in. You can cut the ennui with a chicken wing. Has anyone ever seen Byron Brown and SpongeBob Squarepants in a room at the same time ? Yeaaaaaaah, I didn’t think so either……..listen to that voice next time he opens his mayoral piehole and tell me you can’t hear him saying I’m Ready !!!

Byron is just an empty suit. Almost anyone would be better. But with a contol board stil running things is the Mayor’s office realy relevant and does anyone really care?
@Buffaloobserver
The mayor of Buffalo does not have to be an empty suit. The position does not have the power it once did but it still has some power.
PE Obama is going to dump a ton of money into infrastructure. The Mayor in 2010 is going to have a voice in how this is spent. Do you really want Brown in charge of this?
Look at the Pitts plan to see the future of what Buffalo will do with MILLIONS from the Fed.
Good thing BB’s grading HIMSELF. Wind the clock back 4 years, and what is different?
I’m with indabuff–Get a no-nonsense lady with a full bag of Riverside street smarts in there. Judy fills the bill nicely.
As long as cogs of the Machine run the city, you’ll get what you voted for. Same old Stuff.
If you won’t go away we can’t miss ye…
Kearns is not part of the same old stuff. He beat the party packed Conrad, Higgins’ Kennedy and Shroeder’s boy, in South Buffalo on his own. Not to mention, he is a thorn in the side of Mayor Casey. Remember the SUV controversy? I”m hoping for a good old fashion street brawl. This town needs a shake up.
ONE QUESTION THAT IS PERTINENT IN EVERY ELECTION IS “ARE YOU BETTER OFF NOW THAN YOU WERE FOUR YEARS AGO”? ANY ONE WHO SAYS THAT ABOUT THE BRYON BROWN / STEVE CASEY RUNNING THE CITY OF BUFFALO WITH AN EYE ON POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS , IS EITHER ON THE PAYROLL AS AN APPOINTMENT OR LOOKING FOR SOMETHING!
BROWN DOESN,T HAVE A CLUE WHICH IS WHY YOU CAN’T TALK TO HIM! THE OFFICE ON THE SECOND FLOOR IS OFF LIMITS !ALSO ON HIS CHARACTER,
THE MESS AND PUNISHMENT OF CANISIUS COLLEGE , FOR PROVING HIS SON WAS DRIVING WAS A SHAME. SO THE KID HIT SOME CARS , IT WASN’T
THAT BIG OF A DEAL!!!!!!!NOBODY CARED BECAUSE YOUNG DRIVERS MAKE
MISTAKES.IF HE WAS INVOLVED IN ORCHESTRATING A COVERUP, THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES FOR HIS CHARACTER!!!!!!!
