Pedro Espada (D-Opportunism)

Pedro Espada, the guy whose house is in Mamaroneck, but somehow got his ass elected state senator from a Bronx district, decided to re-align himself with the Democrats in the State Senate.  For this week, anyway.

Missing from the mix, naturally, is any sort of rational explanation as to why we need a State Senate at all, for any reason.

But in the end, it would be my wish that the senate Democrats go out of their way to shun and reject Espada.  The fact that it’s being reported that he’s being promised a leadership position – Senate Majority Leader – only underscores the uselessness of the State Senate, the power hunger of Espada and his political benefactors, and the shamelessness of Senate Democrats in general.

Each and every one of them should be relegated to the dreaded private sector with all celerity, and the Democrats in the State Senate can go fuck themselves for having anything to do with this piece of shit.  Pedro Espada?  Majority Leader?  Have you no shame?

and steve pigeon is the new chief counsel to the senate….and george maziarz is the new chairman of the energy committee. you read it here first.

Of course he will be the majority leader – this is all about titles and perks. As if that wasn’t clear enough already, wasn’t there a deal at one point where both parties got to be in power, and took turns being majority leader? I’m surprised that one didn’t last, because it meant EVERYONE had a leadership position, and GOT PAID.
How can any New York voter honestly vote for a single incumbent when the Senate is up for re-election. It doesn’t matter who else is running – just vote for the person without an (I).

I’m feeling more apathetic than usual about NYS politics. It’s just so broken. Then when I think I have a firm grasp of just how broken it is they go ahead and blow my mind every.single.time.forever.and.always. Will it ever get better? Are they ever going to lower taxes in upstate and realize we aren’t NYC metro? Are they ever going to let us help ourselves? I think it’s better to not care than be frustrated about it.

Now would be a good time for the Primary Challenge people to begin developing a candidate slate to oppose every single incumbent in the state senate. Unfortunately, they are too busy playing with their teabags and making vague references to armed revolution.

If I didn’t have two kids, two jobs and a mortgage, I’d probably consider organizing such an effort to get slugs like Volker, Maziarz, Thompson and Stachowski out of office.

I have been a registered Dem for over 33 years and I have never been as disgusted with my party as I am now. If the Senate Dems are going to swim with a peice of shit like Espada the they are going to smell like a shit too. What is the rest of deal? What else did Pigeon and Golisano get out of this? I would switch parties but there are no other viable options. To paraphrase Jackson Brown, maybe I should just be a happy idiot and struggle for the legal tender. Screw the dysfunctional political system, don’t vote, move to Canada, WTF!!!!

I think the short-term answer is to abolish the State Senate. The long-term options include redistricting reform and public finance of elections.

But we can take some comfort in the fact that Pigeon is behind this. Everything he touches generally turns to shit sooner or later.

  7. Welcome to New York – where we reward the most incompetent individuals after they’ve proven they have the ability to waste hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars.

  8. Someone definitely needs to organize an Oust The Incumbent platform and get all of these idiots out of here — Senate and Assembly.

    Can Primary Challenge do this?
