It is the rare television personality who transcends popularity to become beloved, but Chesley McNeil did it. Today is his last day as Channel 2’s morning weatherman, as he makes his move to Atlanta and bigger and better things.
I wish him luck and success in his future endeavors, and know he will be sorely missed here in WNY, where we will forever be “livin’ for the weekend”.

As weather reporting has just become a dominating mind control game in the last 30 years (why did people in the 70’s drive and go out in all sorts of weather rather than live in fear of a few flakes as we do today?), Chesley seemed not to get caught up in the paranoia approach. Good luck to him in the sunny South!
I mean, good luck and all, but I never saw the big deal. I’m a Don Paul person myself. That whole Channel 2 team in the morning is generally over impressed with themselves which is a little too much for me at that hour.
buffmother, i hate don paul’s weather forcast he is always trying to scare old people and he loves saying things like Black Ice and greasy streets. But he is really a nice guy, he used to drink at Ray Flynn’s after his news gig and was quite funny. I miss Flynn’s
Maybe you people in Buffalo will miss this guy but I don’t see why we have to put up with another mouthful of teeth every morning on channel 11 here in Atlanta. This station canned Flip Spiceland, moved Chris Holcomb from the weekend into the morning slot Monday thru Friday after years of doing the weekend weather, and then lo and behold, here comes some idiot that blew himself into Lake Erie from his garage, for heaven sake. He acts like a fool with his “I’m just a hapless n—-r” routine. I’ll be glad to see him go somewhere else. By the way, the only reason he got the gig here in Atlanta is the new news director came here from Buffalo as well. I won’t be watching channel 11 any more until this fool is rremoved.
