   Man… I’m really torn here. He DOES warrant that big “Premium Ad Space” on [another - ed.] site, after all. And after you scroll through 2 screen widths of payo-… , err… “donations” – ummm… “Advertising” – yeah, “advertising”… that’s the ticket – to finally get to the profoundly, well-realized “journalistic” meat of the site, he absolutely glows about the Sheriff’s prospects.

   …And it’s all presented in glorious, huge red type!! I mean… it’s like a really important shade of red and really bold and everything! Makes it pretty hard to doubt the seriousness and total commitment to the advertiser… ummm, I mean message.

   Gee… if people weren’t so darn complex and life presented us with more obvious warning signs and credibility indicators, wouldn’t everything be so much easier to suss out?

   Don’t forget the recent $1 million settlement by Erie County to the Bennett family concerning the death of prisoner Michael Bennett in the Holding Center. The prisoner died in the Sheriff’s custody and the state ruled it a homicide. The family sued and facing a potential massive judgment, the County settled the lawsuit. That’s another reason why Howard and his team need to be removed from office.

   I don’t think it’s just the jail that’s run half fast—-there’s at least one other unit in that department that I wonder about—I wouldn’t mind seeing someone like Dennis Delano give it a try if a career State Police officer like Captain Nigrelli couldn’t be persuaded to go for it—

   Think back about all the scandal that has been connected to Howard and his band of appointed flunkies since day 1, from the Bucky Phillips debacle to getting within 3 feet of Joan Divers body before packing it in to go to a Bills game (at overtime rate), to record amounts of inmate deaths and lawsuits, to appointing more friends & family and creating more highly paid chief positions (even adding an additional undersheriff !) than ever before, several inmats released (or escaped)before legally due, to trying to intimidate media figures, to deputies having sex with inmates, … I could go on and on. Now ask yourself if you can name ONE positive thing that this administration has done. It’s time to dump this train wreck and let him collect his huge taxpayer funded pension.

   I’ve worked for 2 Sheriffs, and know about a dozen, former and current.
   The absolute power that a Sheriff holds is intoxicating to an elected official (POLITICIAN).
   Sheriffs routinely do things that end up with them being inmates themselves due to their abuses of power.

   I personally saw the Sheriffs of Norfolk and York County Virginia indicted for malfeasance. A Captain in the NSO was fired for inappopriate conduct with a female inmate.

   It’s a nationwide problem, and though I’m not making light of the issues that have arisen during Sheriff Howard’s tenure, they’re about par for the course if you look at the turns of events in our local jails and sheriff’s offices across the country.

    Sheriff howard sucks at running the sheriff’s office, don’t blame the workers for the mistake blame the county politics. they got the poor clerks in the holding center working4-5 doubles a week in horrible conditions. The worst part about it all is, if they don’t have a clerk to force into a double they take a deputy who makes double the money, to do a clerks job, but the clerks don’t get paid shit. I have been at the cash window, those poor clerks are busting their asses all the time, dealing with us assholes who come to the window and want to be taken care of right away, then you see the lazy deputies, who are making the real money sitting around. One time i went to drop money off to a friend and saw 4 deputies outside smoking on the way in and I stood in line for 45 minutes, you know those dumb asses were still standing outside when I left, way to spend county money!!!!!!!
