Last year we were able to donate close to 100 Easter Baskets to St Lukes that were handed out to children when they came to the soup kitchen for their Easter dinner..With help from some of my amazing friends including C. August who rallied her girl scout troop to help.
This was all done in loving memory of my son James who passed away last year.
This Easter we are doing it again and I will tell you doing these projects is a great way to honor the memory your loved ones. As you will also be helping to put a smile on a childs face( Im sure everyone remembers how exciting it was to get an Easter basket and bite the ears off your chocolate bunny lol)
So please consider making a basket. We are trying to keep them in the $10 to $12 range and ask that each one has the same amount/type items in them so each child will get an equal amount.
1 chocolate bunny
1 pair of socks
1 bag of jelly beans
1 small toy/stuffed animal..
My motto is “keep it simple”
We will be dropping them off on April 1st about 3-4pm and I invite everyone to meet us there or if you are unable to then contact me and we can make other arrangements.
Thank you!

In case you hadn’t noticed, BFA changed today.
Not all of the site upgrades are functional, but they will be over the coming weeks.
Some things to look for…
And more…
I really hope you like the new look…it was both out of necessity with the web’s ever changing scope and a way top freshen things up on BFA.
All of it…to continue to do what we have done for over four years… is to work together with community groups, businesses, residents, churches and other organizations to help promote, preserve and revitalize the Broadway-Fillmore area.
Our readership has grown over the last few years to beyond what we could have ever hoped for.
Alive…
Stay tuned!

Please mark your calendars for the next meeting of the East Buffalo Good Neighbors’ Planning Alliance, to be held Monday 3/22 at 5:30pm at the Seneca Babcock Community Center, 1168 Seneca Street.

The past few weeks we’ve noticed the smoke has been darker and the odors have been stronger at Tonawanda Coke. Whatever is going on in there isn’t good for us to breathe.
And it looks like there is also trouble at Erie Coke, our “sister plant”, in Erie, PA that is also owned by Don Crane.
Our friends in Erie sent along a few articles explaining the incident. According to reports, the plant lost power and when employees tried to turn on the boilers the system overloaded. That’s when the “coke-smell” was released into the air. The Erie Times covered the story and a blogger put up pictures of the smoke. The emissions covered downtown Erie the entire day.
Crane now had two companies under investigation and has been ordered to clean up at both sites. What’s it going to take to get this guy to clean up his act?
Incidents like these demonstrate why the state must continue to monitor the air in Tonawanda. Relying on companies like Tonawanda Coke to honestly self-report their emissions is foolish. Unfortunately, the funding for the air monitors in Tonawanda runs out April 1. We’ve started a petition here to let DEC Commissioner know we need air monitoring. Funding the monitors will allow us to track our progress and sends an important message to polluters that we are watching. Help us out by signing the petition and letting your friends know.

When you tune into BFA on Monday morning, the remodeling job will be over and we will look different.
Because the system we use to deliver content online has changed drastically over the last year, we had change things a bit…for the better we hope. :-)
