Come on….admit it….
You’ve stood in front of the mirror and imagined yourself as Brad or Angelina.
You’ve sashayed around as if strolling down the red carpet with paparazzi popping their bulbs for you.
There’s absolutely no doubt in your mind that given the chance, you could win the Oscar for best actor/actress/director of the year.
Well, my friends, your moment in that movie spotlight has finally arrived in the form of the 48 Hour Film Project.
Beginning at 7pm on August 10th, Buffalo will be awash with teams of area filmmakers and their crews, putting together movies that must be completed in 48 hours. The commonality among these celluloid masterpieces will be assigned genres, a character, a prop and a meaningful line of dialogue, all of which must be used somewhere in each movie. The beauty of the competition is that there are no boundaries as to who can compete….all that’s needed is a team and a dream.
Upon completion, all films will be screened at the Buffalo 48 Hour Film Project Festival to be held at the Market Arcade on Wednesday Thursday, August 15-16. A winner will be chosen from area entrees and that film will enter into the National 48 Hour Film Festival (Filmapalooza) with the chance of winning the top prize of $7500 and the possibility of international screenings at movie festivals, including the illustrious Cannes.
So release your inner movie star longings and join me on tonight’s Buffalostyle as I interview the national organizers of the 48 Hour Film Project and some of the WNY’ers who are jumping into this celluloid fray. You’ll hear all about the competition and how to participate …..and you can call in with your own questions at 886-9696.
Who knows…that Oscar of your dreams may finally be coming your way.

Those are some compelling mp3 interviews but please be careful with claims like Thomas Edison shot his first movie in WNY. We’re not THAT good!
(This studio operated and closed well before Edison’s gear showed up at the Pan Am Expo in 1901: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edison’s_Black_Maria )
Hey JPW
Thanks for the info, but the research I found on the topic claimed that Edison did indeed shoot the first movie here.
As an aside, I am careful with my research for Buffalostyle …but I do appreciate you keeping me on my toes!
Keep listening and feel free to call in sometime…886-9696
