The Sights and Sounds of Buffalo

Well I went to the Bisons home opener (didn’t stop by at the bloggercon area but I really want to go to the next one). My favorite part about Bisons games are the fans. Here is where you find the heavy set, middle aged, unionized, manual laborers of Buffalo shooting the breeze with their fellow beer-bellied buddies. And with that intro here is my convo of the week

[Pitcher named "Slocum" warming up in the bullpen]
Man #1: “Hey buddy, that guys name is Slocum! You must be named after him! Hahaha!”
Man #2: “Haha nonono his name would be FASTcum”
*The rest of the men laugh at his expense
**if you don’t see the pun then forget about it

We also spotted two men together rocking some awesome mullets. It made me want to bust out some Zubaz pants and talk about wether or not Jimmy Griffin should run for mayor again

But anyways, seeing dozens of older men and in some cases-their wives…decked out in Bisons official warmup jackets and jerseys and caps reminded me of when i was really young and Pilot Field was new…It hit me, a lot of those blue collar Buffalonians who used to fill up the ballpark and the bars around town are gone and it kind of made me sad. I love teasing them, but god I love them to death.
