Out of my head and into my downtown

Hopefully most of you have had the opportunity to eat at Chipotle at some point in your life. Good stuff…and something that Buffalo should have. A friend of mine told me a week ago about her father’s pursuit of bringing Chipotle downtown only to find out they don’t franchise. For shame.

But…

You can send them suggestions for sites to look into that follow certain guidelines.

I wrote them a lengthy letter suggesting Genesee Gateway and Canal Side and perhaps even Cobblestone Alive as potential sites.

I’d assume the more people send them letters asking for them to come to the region, the more likely they would…so go ahead and write them.

Really? Of the many national retail/food brands to bring to Buffalo, you’ve selected Chipotle?

I guess with Moes new to Transit and Pilot field, Mighty, Taco Bell, ETS, et al, this seems to be a little uninspired choice for a “call to action”

What are some goal retailers you would have for Buffalo? What would be on a “reach” list?

What is it about Chipotle that caught your eye and makes it an attractive “get” in your eye, for the Cobblestone or Canalside?

Don’t you know how important it is to “shop local”? You are going to be excommunicated from the cool kids crowd.

Also, this guideline caught my eye:

Urban and suburban with strong residential and daytime population.

Preferred generators include residential, office, retail, university, recreation and hospitals.

So, the waterfront idea wouldn’t really work until/if Canalside/Bass Pro happens. As of now, there isn’t nearly enough foot traffic to lure a franchise of any sort.

I admire your gumption, kid. Stick with it and someday our downtown will have a Chipotle and a JambaJuice. Then, I will be a happy man.

lol. ‘call to action’. i’m not gonna write letters to places a like in general…but chipotle-unlike most places-has a section specifically devoted to suggesting a location for them to expand to.

oh and i’ve never met anyone who is obsessed w.moes. mighty? yes…but i dont know why. chipotle has a huge following, good luck getting inside the door at lunch time in the DC area, lines flow out to the sidewalks…never met anyone down here who doesn’t get excited at the suggestion of eating at chipotle

@chris-i pushed the canal side as part of the whole retail project…i certainly wouldnt expect them to go in alone on that site…wouldnt be surprised to see them open at the maple road project though.

Chipotle, potbelly, and their brethern are lined out the door because they make stuff fast and aren’t mcdonalds.

eat it enough and you’ll find the burrito is really a gut bomb….and that while good, it’s not that special.

  5. STEEL says:

The locations you gave them don’t match any of their criteria. Then again no place in WNY does.

  6. Mark says:

shhhh…i was trying to trick them.
