*yawn* New Canal Side renderings

The internets have had some new Canal Side renderings circulating. Allow me to show them to you…

These are posted by WestCoastPerspective on the development forums. Keep in mind these are concept drawings of the “high” development scenario that is in the Environmental Impact Study.

These are from the EEK website and have been circulated on BRO already…

And lastly, the Marine Drive parking garage that is facing angry opposition for no apparently rational reason. Yay, Buffalo.

Realistically, I look forward to seeing Canal Side having an interesting infrastructure of canals and cobblestone streets that haven’t existed in 70 years. I have doubts about potential private sector development.

Having a quaint, low key, Canal Side is fine with me…I just hope the higher ups don’t get too caught up in the urban theme park mode they seem to get more and more into every time we hear an update.

re: assPro: I’ve always wanted to shop for fishing tackle in an imitation iron foundry! What the hell is that? This crud looks like what most cities still want to tear DOWN, not build! Oh well.
Nice touch, that water-wheel; it’s a repro of the thing they once had running at the entrance of the Ohio Basin, trying to pump out some of the sewage. Prolly will serve the same purpose.

I am not sure about that water wheel. Are they going to be milling some wheat in there?

I read in the news the waterwheel will be for the aquarium that is going in. So it serves a purpose. I hope it all works out in the end. I hope something out of this plan gets built, developed what ever you want to call it. I hope it wont be a 70 degree day in January in Buffalo when this gets built. I have my hopes though! I really do!
