Griffin: Have Petitions, Will Run For County Exec
Buffalo, NY (WBEN) – Former Buffalo mayor Jimmy Griffin says he’s collected about 4,600 signatures, which is more than enough to put him on the primary ballot for Erie County Executive, as a Democrat.
The Democrats have endorsed former deputy County Executive James Keane, and he already faces a challenge from West Seneca Town Supervisor Paul Clark. Griffin’s petition drive means a three-way primary will most likely occur.
Candidates could start filing their nominating petitions as of Friday. The endorsed Democrats are expected to turn theirs in either Monday or Tuesday, with a final 5 p.m. deadline Thursday.
