After the PR disaster that was yesterday’s press conference, Rep. Tom Reynolds huddled up with the spin machine and came out firing at another press conference today.
Shockingly, he did this one without the benefit of children as props.
Thanks to indabuff for securing the clips.
Part 1:
Part 2:
The story remains the same. He is referring to himself as a simple employee who reported the incident to his supervisor. Additionally, Reynolds claims that the media is culpable for the failure to report the information to the public and house leadership as they didn’t find anything during their initial investigation. Perhaps they failed to get any information due to the party machine locking down any leaks or information….nah, couldn’t be. After all, he’s just a simple congressman.
In case you’re wondering, Reynolds still refuses to return the $100K donated by Rep. Foley or the $300K he has donated over the past two years. He’d like to remind us that we’re the ones who are confused as to the timeline of events and he’s completely clean. He’s still unsure as to the timing of the discussion he had with Rep. Alexander or Speaker Hastert, the content of those discussions, and the manner in which he held those discussions. They are privileged conversations and he’s not sharing.
We’re currently working on credentials for the Tom Reynolds fundraiser featuring First Lady Laura Bush that is scheduled for tomorrow at the Buffalo Niagara Marriott in Amherst. The Secret Service has a say in who is present so, I’m not holding my breath for Marc and I to get our media passes.
For the record, we hold media credentials with every other organization in town but, I’ve got a feeling that Reynolds is going to lean on whomever he has to to keep us away…
If any of our readers at The Buffalo News or local media outlets want to help us out, shoot me an email.
