The Rats Abandon A Sinking Ship

In a stunning rebuke of the administration, the neocons have abandoned Bush.

Several prominent neoconservatives have turned on United States President George Bush days before critical midterm elections, lambasting his administration for incompetence in the handling of the Iraq war and questioning the wisdom of the 2003 invasion they were instrumental in promoting.

Bush losing the PNAC crowd is like a Democratic President losing the ACLU and NOW.

Kenneth Adelman, another Reagan-era hawk who sat on the Defence Policy Board until last year, drew attention with a 2002 commentary in the Washington Post predicting that liberating Iraq would be a “cakewalk”.

He now says he hugely overestimated the abilities of the Bush team. “I just presumed that what I considered to be the most competent national security team since Truman was indeed going to be competent,” Adelman said.

“They turned out to be among the most incompetent teams in the post-war era. Not only did each of them, individually, have enormous flaws, but together they were deadly, dysfunctional.”

Vote Democrat or abstain.

how about just “don’t vote for mediocrity?”

What I don’t understand is why anyone cares what Richard Perle or Kenneth Adelman thinks about anything. Why are we listening to what people who were completely wrong about Iraq and not the people who were right?

  3. When a salesman is really familiar with a product or service and changes his mind after lengthy experience, you should listen. It means he is intimately involved with the details as to why the product or service sucks. To swallow their professional pride and admit they screwed the pooch is significant.

Perle and Adelman were the architects of the campaign and know how/why it has fallen apart. Their abandonment of the strategy speaks volumes as to how fucked it is.
